    Hi All,

I have a old machine now, about 3 years old i believe.

    Core i5 750 //
    MSI P55-GD65 //
    G.Skill Ripjaw 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz//
    Gigabyte Radeon 4890 HD 1GB//
Corsair 650W TX Series PSU //
    2 x Seagate 500GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm//
    Windows 7

How much is this pc worth now?
Just want to gain some knowledge about todays market.

Would it be better to upgrade (Dont really want to) or Start afresh with another custom build.
Budget for that would be £500 for a new build.

For £500 I would expect a pretty good Gaming rig.

Everything except the GPU looks pretty good. That i5 is still a very powerful gaming CPU. Upgrade the GPU and get an SSD.

I would recommend any high-end GPU like a GTX 670. A Samsung 840 128GB SSD as a Boot drive will make your PC fly; boot times and level load times will be significantly reduced.

As others have said the upgrade is the best option. You'd be hard pushed to do a new build with a CPU better than the one you have now for £500.

£200? The 670 is about £260 at minimum. You could get a GTX 660ti.

You can get a new KFA2 670 for £240, a second hand EVGA will set you back around £200 at the moment but prices are falling.

A 660Ti will set you back £212 new, for the sake of £30 I would go for a 670 or look at an AMD 7950 which is more or less the same performance (give or take) as a 670 and can be purchased with free game bundles that are worth the money. To be honest either of those is going to seem awesome after a 4890.

You have enough posts for the marketplace here, get over there and check out what is for sale.

They've currently got the 7950 too at £219 inc. games - if that drops to £200 it'd be an amazing bargain.

7950s have gone past at that price recently - Dabs recently did a £200 special on the Gigabyte Windforce 7950 GHz :)

Did it include the games too? As that comes with Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 3, etc, they'd be worth quite a bit if sold. But £200 for a 7950 is brilliant anyway.

It did. The bundle included Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, Blood Dragon and Sim City!

Stonking deal - worth keeping an eye out for again :thumb:

Wow, if I'd seen that I would have sold my 7970 and got that. I don't really need the extra performance mine gives, and I want Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite.

Thanks for this. I looked at the deals and that is a pretty good deal with the games and that. BTW do you have a link for the market place? I can't see it on the site?
    Thanks

Have you overclocked your CPU? It's pretty easy to get 3.8GHz out of those components. I'm happily playing all the latest titles and tbh only a few of them really need the overclock to get the max out of them.
