    Hello all,

I have built my new gaming pc (see signature) but I am having problems when I plug in any USB device, it comes up with unknown device and won't install a driver. This was happening with my USB mouse and keyboard but they are now working some how :S so I can go to device manager. I have tested the USB devices on my "Media PC" so I do know they work.

When I built the PC i did update the BIOS and windows is bang up-to-date.

Is this a motherboard fault or should I try reinstalling windows 7 64bit?

Every USB port on the PC has the same issue, or some do and some do not? Could be some or all of the USB ports have the wrong drivers. Go to the MSI website and download and update all chipset and USB controller drivers, then try again.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply to this.
I have updated the drives for everything and this has made things a bit better but not perfect.
I have a 5 meter active extension cable but this is 50 - 50 if it works first time. If I boot the PC up with the keyboard and mouse plugged in to the cable it sometime sees them and other times doesn't but if I plug them into the motherboard they are seen and work without fault.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I'd try another active extension cable.

Probably a stupid question, but when you tested on other PC's was it the same peripheral you used ?

Could it be anything to do with the "external usb power" setting in the BIOS.
