Okay, so this might seem like a stupid question, but here goes. I just found a pc for my girlfriend, and she shares internet with her neighbour. This is no problem on her laptop as this has a wireless card built in. I have a wireless netgear router I don't use anymore, and I was jsut wondering if there is any way I can use this instead of buying a wifi card for her. I know it's cheap but just wondering!
Yep, bridge mode is what you are after. Bare in mind that this is not a common feature on stock firmware. Use DD-WRT if your router is supported.
Holy moly... Might be easier to buy a card... I'll take a look at it. Thx for the fast and great reply!
If you are going to buy some WLAN stuff this is the place to go. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/wlansud This is the item that would get you the best connection / performance at low cost. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUPER-Wifi-US...tDomain_186&hash=item3cb47c1fd1#ht_8518wt_983
yeah that one ms hunter linked is great for wireless g.. if you need N though http://www.amazon.com/802-11g-Wireless-Long-Rang-Network-Adapter/dp/B0035H4164/ref=pd_cp_e_1 they have a alfa that's advertised at 2W also.. the most I've seen it in linux was 31dbm though.. every 3dbm is double the power and 30dbm is 1W so I dunno if it's stories, that was with the region set for bolivia too.. the one I linked is a ralink chipset- pretty nice if you get the software to go with it- you can even setup an ap in windows and get the 9 dbi antennae if you find it bundled together as a package in reality it's a 250mw stick though.. I can confirm that too- there's a lot of lies in advertising these days
