    Hi folks,

Longtime reader of Custom PC; I've just registered on the forum.

I built a rather exclusive Quiet PC earlier this year but I hardly used it because I worked away from home most of the time and I'm now relocating abroad.
Would you know where I could advertise the rig? (apart from eBay as I recently got some bad experience with it)
The machine is located in Edinburgh and ideally I'd like the buyer to it pick up once he's seen it working at my place (so everybody's happy). The rig is detailed in the link "Home Page" from my profile (http://edinburgh.gumtree.com/edinburgh/80/47170480.html).

Any ideas will be most welcome.

Many thanks in advance for your help,
    S.

to get the most money for your rig im sure you would be better breaking it and selling all components seperately. I know you dont want to use ebay but you will be struggling to reach a large audience without them. Some forums offer a marketplace (this one included) but you will need a certain number of posts to access this.

Thanks, I was aware that selling the bits separately could get me more money but the problem is that I'm now very short on time :(

It's a great spec but being based on a C2Q isn't doing it any favours. I know it cost a lot to build but you're going to lose even more on it when you don't (and you won't, in my opinion) get the £1800 asking price for it. My advice would be to either take it with you wherever you're going and make good use of it or as someone else already suggested, break it down and sell the components individually.

Thanks for your answer. I'm afraid taking it with me won't be an option :(
And I don't have the time to break it, so I guess I'll have to accept less for it... which saddens me.
Unfortunately nobody has dared making me an offer for it yet :wallbash:

You wont get much over £1000 for that to be honest, maybe £1300 at an absolute push.

Thanks guys, I have well understood now that according to you this machine is over-priced. Though please could you possibly answer my question from the first post:

    Where can I advertise it?

I've already done Gumtree and the AdTrader, but any idea would be welcome. what other Enthusiast's forums could I target?

PS: my ad states ONO (Or Nearest Offer), would that not be enough to avoid any comments on the price? I understand now that it will be a bit too pricey and i'm ready to lose more money...

I think it's something like 30 posts or 30 days registration (whichever comes first) to be able to advertise it on here.

    Other places:
    OcUK Forums
    Hexus forums
    gumtree (owned by ebay, avoid)
    local paper
    noticeboards at local universities
    local paper

    yada yada

Once again, thanks a lot for your help. I'll try the 2 other forums you suggested.

    Cheers mate!

Thanks for all your help and recommendations.

I'm afraid I've had to take £500 off the rig to try to sell it, with the hope somebody will make me a reasonable offer... Fingers crossed
