My favorite thing about YOLO is the number of phrases which have existed before it that carry largely the same meaning. For example, mentally replace "YOLO" with "carpe diem" and enjoy a good laugh.

    You find it swaggravating? :D

    Everything happens for a reason

    This means nothing. Stupid phrase.

When god closes a door, he opens a window

What does this really mean??? I'm not climbing through any windows!

    Guesstimate

    I find this really annoying.

I actually use a few of those occasionally.
Guesstimate, for example: It's a guess based on numbers that are not nearly significant enough to call it an estimate.

    Apply your mind
    NO! Just THINK ABOUT IT!

    Out of the box thinking
If you're thinking in the box, you're probably an accountant. ;)

    YOLO
Because I only know retards that use that.

    Quasi
Not because the word is bad, but because it's used mostly by effing hipster idiots.

It's always in the last place that you look, what does that actually mean? Because what is the purpose of continuing to look, once you've found it....

"I'll see you when I see you." Really?

'It's the least I can do'. Hardly much of an offer then!

    Or these few.

    "I'm not a racist but..."
    "With the greatest/all due respect..."
    "Trust me..."
"You're not going to believe this but..."

And a particular favourite 'To be honest...' - you mean you haven't been honest up 'till now?

"the exception that proves the rule"

    WHAT? exceptions disprove rules!!

And....YOLO...someone on TV (I forget who) pointed out, in fact, you only DIE once, which offers a completely different outlook...

    Also,

'We need to start being proactive, not reactive'

Business ******** buzz words in general get my back up.

    Edit: Synergetic :wallbash:

I must only know cool people, I've never heard YOLO used once.

However (say with a thick Bristol accent for maximum offensiveness): "She is like literally the worst person in the world ever!"

Now you know that can't be true.

I always thought it was, or rather, always said "I couldn't care less". Which, to me at least, makes infinite amounts more sense.

You know what they say.. Context dependant, sure, but I hear.. rather, see, it said on a regular basis and it ****s me off because when its said it's about as clear as mud what "they" say or even who "they" are.

"they are always the last place you looked"

Inappropriate double negatives: "I ain't doing nothing", "You never told me nothing" and all that... I can accept YOLO because it passed straight over me. Never saw it coming. Never hear it uttered.

One thing I take great offence to is "Reem". Those sorts of people should not be responsible for words.

    This.

But try explaining that to a worrying number of our American cousins.

Yeah. Some people are in the mindset that by saying I could care less, that they do care, but if you press them harder they will care less. When really, as much as that is accurate for their inner monologue, the saying is "I couldn't care less" because I don't care at all.

    We know that of course...

But will they ever know that? And could they care less... ?? :duh:

Here's one (that I have seen SO many times):
    Could Of
f*** off. The right way to say it is could've - you know - from "could have".
The sad bit is that it's not just written that way. Some people SAY THAT.

When it comes to scanning security logs - this one kind of makes a little sense.

Keep an eye out for problems instead of just looking at logs after it's apparent something went wrong.

Kind of how they caught the guy outsourcing his work to china whilst he watched cat videos all day long!

Tim Minchin has a good line on that.

"Stick and stones will break your bones, but words can break hearts!".

Sticks and stones can break hearts too, just with more blood.

    AWESOME!

I think the only time I've ever genuinely been in awe was watching 9/11 unfold.
