The only thing I've not tried is re-installing the graphics driver. The upside is, that I've now got a stable 24/7 CPU fold overclock @4ghz, and all 6gb of RAM on my board is showing (usually 1 channel of 2gb is shown missing) - points are now up to 21k ppd.
Still nothing. Graphics driver re-installed, no change. How many others are running GTX 295's? If so, which client are you running?
http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=21205 Might hold some answers. Also, try the latest client (7.2.9) as it now auto-updates it's GPU list (as you'll read in the above link). Hope it helps you.
Have checked out my 275's and they work OK,however I am thinking of upgrading them but dont know what too, 660,670 or 680's any comments appreciated.
I'm going to to try an OS re-install to see if that fixes it. I've been having some issues with Windows updates on this machine for a while too, so I wouldn;t be surprised if somethign in the BASE os is corrupt. Besides, I've got a nice SSD sat going begging, so that would be reason enough for me
I'll be getting a GTX 660 into my rig soon, I shall PM you with an average PPD if you like. Get that OS onto your SSD! You won't regret it one bit. If your windows has been playing up then I wouldn't be surprised if that is the cause. I have my settings to inform me but not download or install updates, that way they won't interfere with any running applications (i.e. Folding). Good luck with getting it working again.
Thanks for reply Mike, would apprciate that info. I am also thinking of upgrading to an SSD To Tatty, I have accepted all upgrades and it has not caused any bother so far !!
Taffy, get an SSD. You can read all the reviews and numbers about how much better they are, but until you get one you've no idea how much better things are.
The 600 series don't perform as well as they should when folding, until the F@H cores get rewritten for the new architecture. So you could go for a 500 series card with the same budget, and perhaps get better PPD until the update is rolled out. Either of them will outclass your 275s. SSD doesn't make much difference to folding, but it will make the machine more responsive in day-to-day use.
This doesn't mean they perform badly, my 650Ti is about the same PPD as a 460(768) but uses less power and stays 10degC cooler. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=254797
