I got my new gigabyte mobo with X38 chipset so now i installed the nvidia drivers for my 8800gts 640mb all i can do is left click, click display settings and have crappy options max AA is 8XS and i cant even enable my AF ? it says system information direct x 8.1? i have no clue whats going on. i installed the mobo drivers (all of them) if anyone can help i'd be glad to hear lol
You need to install the newest version of DirectX. http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/DirectX10.aspx The version you have is two generations old!
DX10 so I assume you are using Vista? you might need to run the perfomance test thing via Control Panel to get the updated performance score for you pc, then it might be ok. I had a similar issue with my 8800gtx, couldn't get aero glass to work until I did that.
Sorry for double posting this, but all the games i play look very odd, is this because i have an intel based motherboard and an Nivida card? most of my games, the textures look choppy with or without AA or AF
Is there a type of program like ntune for Intel x38? the basic forceware options thing is prettty small and doesnt have any other options but the basics... plus no over clocker tabs or anything.. its like an old Geforce 256. program
I can;t see where you've answered the question: Are you using Vista/DirectX 10, or XP/DirectX 9? As for a graphics card overclocking/tweaking utility: RivaTuner is one of the best
Where in god's name did you get those drivers? They look ancient. Get the latest nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.com and as others have suggested, get the latest version of DirectX9 off microsoft.
im using rivatuner now and Whiskey i did download the drivers from there but i guess i'll do it again for the fun of it ...
Not too sure why you PM'd me about this Steve-o, it's generally for the benefit of everybody that these problems are solved publicly, on the forums, as it adds to the resources of problems/solutions available to other members and guests. Maybe I'm missing something obvious but the screenshot you provided looks like the old Nvidia UI. For a long time now they've looked like this: It might be worth trying the following: - boot in safe mode (press F8 during boot) - uninstall the Nvidia Drivers - use "ccleaner" to do a clean of the registry to remove any entries left behind - reboot and let the comp start normally (i.e. not safe mode) - reinstall the latest WHQL Nvidia drivers for your card - reboot That should ensure the drivers are completely purged from the system, before reinstalling the latest ones. Also, when seeking advice from members of the forums, it's advisable to answer questions they pose to you before asking more of your own. For example you've yet to reply to several requests for what version of Direct X you have installed and what drivers/operating system etc you are using. I can see it's Vista (with SP1 RC2?) but 32/64 bit?
Which Service Pack 1 release have you installed? When you right click on the desktop and select "Nvidia Control Panel" do you still get the old user interface? (the one in your previous pic). Try enabling the Vista theme (or aeroglass) by right clicking, on the desktop, selecting "personalise" and then changing your "theme" in th options provided. Now try opening the Nvidia Control Panel again. You may to go to "view" in the Nvidia control panel and select "advanced" or "custom" to show the more advanced options. But driver level overclocking isn't included as standard with Nvidia drivers. As others have suggested, Rivatuner is a fantastic utility for overclocking/monitoring.
on the bottom right corner of my screen it says Windows vista (TM) Evaluation Copy Build 6001 plus i just enabled aero, sitll no control panel thing Aero uses up way too much ram btw.. switching back to classic
With graphics drivers it often helps to remove every trace of the old drivers before installing the latest.
i used CCcleaner, still nothing re-checked my Nvidia folder for traces, and re-checked with CCcleaner etc still just the old UI i downloaded 169.28 beta drivers.
He's installed SP1 RC1/RC2 (though he never got round to saying which). And anyway, you'll have no problems running drivers on non-activated windows (doing it right now). Steve-o: It seems a very unusual problem that a fresh install would no doubt solve. However, if you provide a complete list of all hardware and all installed apps (control panel > Add/remove programs >), I or somebody else might be able to spot something. I know it's pain in the ass but everybody here is trying to help. As I say, either that or format.
