    Title: Reventón
    Author: Stip en badje
Motivation: We make this casemod for a few reasons. We both are on the same school, we both have a profession called Informatica, at informatice we received an task. It was the final project for Informatica. We had to choose between some boring php/html programming or make something up yourself. We both love computers and all the hardware that comes with it, and we also like casemodding, so you guys can guess what we did. We came up with the idea of making a casemod. We both have some experience with casemodding, and we thouhgt that if we combined our almighty modpowers it would be even better. 8)
    _Oo
Inspiration: We don't only have some hughe interest in computers but we also share this when it comes to cars. When we saw the newest model of Lamborghini we both went mad, we loved it. So we decided that the Lamborghini Reventón needed to be the theme of our mod.

    To do list:
    • Windows fixen
    • Modding the top and the front of the case
    • New backplate
    • Mobotray
    • Drivebays
    • Making new sides
    • Making a nice top for the case
    • Making a new front
    • Order some goodies we need
    • Paint
    • Put it all together

    Update 1: 27-02-08
We first choose a nice case to mod we went for the Coolermaster CM690, after that we made a few sketches based on the Lamborghini Reventón.
After a few hours of sketching @ school we came up with this:
I think you can see where we want to go with it ;)

Next we ordered the case and picked it up. As soon as we got home we ripped the box open and checked the case. We asume you all know how a standar CM690 looks like, so we are not gonna share that part, but we do have some pictures of a naked CM690.

When we got of the top-panel, the front-panel and all the other stuff that was on to it; we had this left:
Some of this stuff probably will be recycled, especially the print with the I/O ports could be usefull.

A week later we didn't had school, so we used the friday to mod.
We started realising our sketches with some good old cardboard. After a few hours this is what we got out of it.
badje is thinking how he's gonna put it all together

    Update 3: 28-02-08

Today we didn't do very much, but some stuff we ordered arrived:
Bolts, ordered by Fabory. What would be in the box?
    o)

    Close-upje

    Plexi (black 3mm & 5mm) and fans

    Close-upje of the fans, totally 2x 92mm & 3x 120mm

Last but not least the modding we did today: cutting the windows in the side-panels. We figured we make a window at both sides.

    [/Update 3] More next time ^^

    Woei mini update.
We were a bit curious how the fans would look like when they were on, so we connected them. They look pretty nice, above our expectations. Now you guys are thinking bla bla bla bla su dude we want pics... OK.

    Update 4: 29-02-08

Today we continued modding. We woke up at 0900h :S, after that we started with breakfast doh, then we made a to do list for today.
First on the list was finishing the top panel, so we did:

    Grinding: 80 -> 220 -> 400 -> Ready to paint :)

Cutting de plexi for the windows by badje™
    [IMG]
    The grinded result

You may have noticed that there were ventilation holes in the side panels, we don't need them so we had to fill them up. We bought some polyester bondo and gave the panels a nice layer of bondo. After that we grinded them, and applied another layer of bondo:

[/Update 4] This was it for today, probably friday or saturday another update o), please leave some comments/ideas!
    Ciao

We wanted it to be the same color as the car, so we emailed the national importer of the car. They said the color is Grigio Reventón, and whe looked in the shop and couldn't find the same color. Now we try to find something that is close to it, but it will be dark metallic grey

Unless the factory only made 1, that is the only color Google and ask.com and Yahoo can find. It has to be that color. You will figure it out, I have faith:thumb:

and that is a good idea because you can't find it in spray cans , it would have to be mixed per Kilo...........
you don't want to know how much that color would cost if you could get it.

you could try to mix flat black and stainless steel paint or silver or whatever in spray cans, like one can per hand and paint with both spraycans at once so the colors mix in the air while spraying

mhh mixxing 2 colours in air ... i wouldnt do that ( sry froop ^^ ). i dont believe you´ll get a smoth paintjob that way. ask at your lokal carpainter if he can do that for littel money. he wont have the perfect colour for a reventon project but dark silver + flattening additives maybe mimics the original paintjob.

    Update 5: 19-03-08

    Sorry we didn't update.
This was because we didn't had anything to show to you.
But, now we do have something and here it is.
We needed to make a new front and backpanel, we made it out of 2mm aluminium.
We went to school and asked the metal teacher if we could use the machines they got there. He agreed and so we went there last week to make a new front and back.
With the machines they got there it was very easy, everything was straigt, from cuts to bends. We love that.
Enought talking here are some pictures.

All the panels we made together
    [IMG]
The front panel in this stage it is 50 cm
    [IMG]
    Sideview
    [IMG]
Close up of the lower corner, you can see how nice it is
    [IMG]
Close up of a cut, here we need to bend this again
    [IMG]
Close up of the higher corner
    [IMG]
    Again a sideview
    [IMG]
The back panel, it is 44 cm
    [IMG]
    Corner
    [IMG]
Another corner, you can see the lines where we wanted to bend them, pretty close
    [IMG]
    A corner from the outside
    [IMG]
    Inside of the backpanel
    [IMG]
Front and the back lying next to eachother
    [IMG]
Today we made the case fit together, we forgot to take pics of all the other stuff so you guys got to do it with this
    [IMG]
Front with two 92 mm blowholes
    [IMG]
    Different angle
    [IMG]
The back with the cut for the I/O rack
    [IMG]
    Different angle
    [IMG]
    All the parts put togeter
    [IMG]
    ...

[/Update 5] More next time ^^, plz leave a comment.

    I'm liking the shape ;)
It would be awesome if you would be able to reconstruct the shape of the bumper too :D

    Btw: "go advanced"

The case mod's looking great! For the paintjob, you should get an automotive finish on it

Can't wait to see the final product
