OK, These Intel processors got my head all tied up in knots.... Which should I buy if I want better overall system performance? I have an 7950 GX2 now and will most definitely be getting a 9800 GX2. I use an Audigy2 now and will be upgrading to X-Fi for sure. I will get any matching board as required.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help....
I will be ordering the E8400 at the weekend and have read up quite a lot about them. They can all overclock easily to 3.6GHz and a lot can make it to 4.5 (50% increase) with more to spare. This article has responses from real users using the E8400 and so isn't a review of 1 chip from one hardware reviewer. as for the E6850 ... it uses the older technology but other than that, I don't know much about it.
go for E8400 without a doubt. it's newer, sort of cooler, and tiny bit faster clock for clock. don't go with 9800Gx2, it's a waste of money (unless you've got 30inch screen) hold on to your wallets until 9900GTX comes out
If you're running Vista, don't bother with the X-Fi. See this thread for some damn good reasons why... Andy
The E8400 is in first & second place on the forum member SuperPi league. I'm the second place person!!
They cost more or less the same now, but earlier 8400 was even cheaper ( I wonder why they ha ve incresed price on wolfdales recently), so still 8400 is the choice.
keep the audigy 2 over the x-fi. or buy something thats not from creative. I still use an older audigy and it works fine to be honest.
Apparently... being the bad boy and not talking to us any more.... time to go sulk... Just kidding Bindi! Don't hurt me!
