Seriously though; it's not at all permanent and if you've got any specific feedback on why you don't like it then drop it in here and we'll definitely bear it in mind for next time there's a takeover to avoid this happening.
I know you guys have to advertise, and I'm not going to go into one of those bit-tech is being ruined by Dennis rants that seem to be all too common these days. I just find that the ad takes over the whole page, and makes the front page look so dark.
These frontpage ads have been going on since long before Dennis bought bit-tech. I don't mind them much, they're fairly unobtrusive and just like having a different wallpaper on the front page. Gotta love how it's Alienware advertising on bit-tech, though.
Not to point fingers at fellow Dennis publications that I actually really like (and write for occasionally), but it could be worse.
I can't stand full page ads unless they're done exceptionally well.. While this one isn't as bad as some, it's still not on my "like" list. Simply because the left side has had a shade of thought put into making it line up (BT logo, top banner ad, left side), where as the right side just looks tacked on and reduces the "Oh. That's tolerable" to "oh.. That looks a bit ****". Specifically the top right corner where the silver/black gradient meets the right most edge of the typical logo boarder and the far right advert - Left side fits together, right side.. suddenly a cloud? Not even the ground textures match right - the points of view change more dramatically than they should. Picky, yes, but when I'm going to see full-site ads in the typically 'dead' space I at least want it to look good. Understandably not up to you guys, though.
The borders clash and break the flow and the top bit-tech header doesn't blend in well at all. I think it's better than the Intel takeover from a while back, though.
I think it's pretty cool, actually. Not that I'd ever buy anything from Ailienware, but the colors and wallpaper is nice.
Times like this make me appreciate windows 7, simply grab the browser by the title bar and swing it to the far left or right and it automatically resizes to just show the articles.
