The Shepherd P38 Arms with Silencer from No One Lives Forever. I love this gun. Three to the head on semi before they hit the floor, nobody suspects a thing. It's pretty much the only gun I use in the game. And the Enforcer from Sin Episodes, which I've spoken about before.
Meh. All meh. No gun in any game (to me) was more intimidating than Quake 2's Super shotgun. it had a perfect sound, perfect punch, and devastating power... also, nothing terrified me more in multiplayer than hearing the distinct "boom-shwaang" of someone running up a hallway shooting that thing while being powered up with a Quad... When i think of that sound i look for staircases or a way out, maybe a vantage point where the guy might miss me, so i can attack from behind. Still today, that one would be my fave... and i LOVE some of the more modern gun mechanics... but none had that sheer brutishness about it.
I always liked the Stake gun in Painkiller, followed by the Flak cannon in UT and the alt fire of the UT railgun (the orb which explodes when shot with the primary fire of the railgun). Hated the (UT) Bio-rifle though.
I always preferred the stealth pistol and mini-crossbow personally. Stick a laser sight and scope on them and you could always down an enemy with a single shot to the head. If you couldn't, the tranq. darts would kick in and do the trick. Ammo is more plentiful than for the sniper rifle too and I never once had to worry about alarms or cameras, ever. Sneaky sneaky is better than shooty shooty.
I also loved this gun - the nail gun from quake 4 It shredded everything, and sounded like a fully automatic sledgehammer. legend.
Goldeneye, RC-P90. Just for the sound it gave off and the sheer look of panic on your opponents' faces when they heard it in multiplayer. Most hilarious gun ever. *sigh*, can't wait for goldeneye source
cerebral bore from turok 2, once locked on it shot out a flying drone that would attach to your head, drill in and suck out the brains. incredible in multiplayer.
RCP-90 was awesome. But I have to say the best weapon ever was the M82A1-T from Project IGI 2. It was a sniper rifle with thermal imaging, which could shoot through walls.
I loved the one in the end of HL2 where it would turn blue and white and be all super-powered. Made that level so easy.
Joe, you could turn this thread into one of those ridiculously over-rated 'list humour' articles that show up on Digg every 30 minutes.
the mortar cannon from tribes2. fhump ...... puttputtputtputt .... Boom. ya i played heavy almost exclusively. runners up: spinfusor / laser rifle combo. time it right ... hit em with the laser just before the disc gets em. only really worked in tribes 1 though ... the shreddy-disk thingie from UT. nasty brutal around corners. the morph ray / suck cannon combo. best reason to play rachet & clank.
haha yeah, slamming elites off into the reactor and watching them disintegrate into little blue particles. PRICELESS
Its a toss up between the VC21 Boltgun from Killzone 2 or the Crossbow from HL2. Both are very similar and watching a ragdoll get nailed to a wall never gets old.
another good one PerfectDark the "Farsight XR-20" auto-aiming x-ray vision shoot through walls In big multiplayer games, I'd set up proximity lines in the hallways leading up to the Farsight spawn, so I would hear if anyone tried to come in. Then I'd just sit there with it, wrecking everyone. If you could get a teammate to cover you while you Farsight camped, it was game over.
This one? I've had Deus Ex and Nolf installed on at least one of my machines since the games were released. Yep, game came out in 2000, based on the Unreal Engine 1.
