You got me looking now :) I'd get the Netgear ReadyNAS RND2000 and pop in a couple big disks. The RND2000 seems like the full package to me. I know it's above 100 but I reckon it's well worth the cost.

I found this guys site for pics and all:

Thanks for the reply, still have not bought anything so this is something else to think about.

A question that arises with the ReadyNAS, from looking at the specs it seems that if you have 2 HDDs in it, they must run in some form of RAID and cannot be operated each as a single volume, is there anyway to run the HDDs as single HDDs and not in RAID?

    Thanks...

I think you are looking for a JBOD function. I believe it stands for "Just a bunch of Drives" and allows more than one physical disk to be viewed as one logical disk.

You may wish to have a look at Small Net Builder for reviews on NAS.

Does JBOD not take a number of different sizes of HDDs and put them into one larger logical volume, if so this is not what I am referring to when I say "if you have 2 HDDs ....they cannot be operated each as a single volume" ie., that each is seen as a separate HDD (volume)...

And it doesn't appear to do JBOD either...

You can have 2 drives working as individual volumes while also having a usb drive as another volume.
