As much as it pains me to say it, Steam have some really good deals on at the moment, it's definitely worth a look

Still going strong on 1.6 here. Although my skill level seems to have taken a dip after the last few years of polluting myself with CoD4 and MW2 + WoW and some other RPGs.

    Bring back UT2004 instagib. :(

That could have something to do with 75% off last weekend.

It's nowhere near death. Servers are still brimming and people are still buying. Same with 1.6.

It was there before that. CS:S is quite evidently not dead, whether it should be or not is a different matter. Imho the fact that it is still so widely played, despite the irritating forced downloads of custom models and occasional prepubescent swearing etc (which can be turned off with the appropriate cvar), is a tribute to the excellence of the game.

I'm a bit bored of it TBH.
I still play from time to time.

But at the mo, I'm loving TF2 longtime

CSS is still the benchmark to test your FPS prowess. I still find this game a challenge when playing with seasoned players.

Indeed, I'm so out of practice these days when I do pop on for a game I get my arse kicked big time.

Nothing beats the pre-Steam versions of CS. Just played some today with a few friends at a local net cafe, great fun on fy_iceworld or poolday. Don't forget rats! :p

I disagree in a lot of ways. There is a skill curve but I am put off by the dodgy netcode/hitboxes STILL being an issue after all this time. Run round a corner spraying and you are likely to blow off everyones head with your finger glued down on the trigger and this is even further highlighted by sniping.

I guess people have got used to it so they adjust their aim but coming from CS1.6 where the bullets go where you put them, this feels so disjointed. It's still a good game but that is a huge problem.

This was never really an issue. It all spawned from a few videos that showed the hit boxes of bots on a local server.

Adjust your rates and stop making excuses.

What? You must not have been playing 1.6..

I have no need to make excuses. Despite the odd death to random fire to the face I can easily hold my own. And I shouldn't have to adjust my rates to play a game properly, especially if I play on a server in my own country. Neither would your average joe bloggs know how to even do that. Don't make hasty comments.

Maybe it's just me or something from switching between the games but it definitely feels clunky and less accurate most of the time and the spray and pray is like no other game ever. You can kill 5 people from 500 yards with 1 clip just by spraying in their general direction.
