I am trying to record gameplay of me playing cod MW2 multiplayer on the pc but as soon as i try recording with FRAPS or another screen capture application i get terrible lag which is unplayable. I have a gtx 275 an intel e5200 processor overclocked to 3.7ghz and a 24 inch monitor at 1920 by 1080. I was wondering if there was any settings that i can change on fraps to make it playable.

Is it possible top buy capture cards/ HD PVR for the pc to record gameplay?

Also i forgot to mention this was for my youtube channel - nbachamp120

Any help would be most apreciated.

there should be a demo record command in the game... but I think your main bottleneck here is the e 5200 - not enough cache on that chip for the gaming your doing.

There is no console in MW2 and as such no commands and conversely no demo recording.
This was also one of the reasons, cited along with lack of dedicated servers, that would kill any chance of the game being popular competitively. It IS damn annoying.

Not for the legit version anyway.

but yeah if the PC if powerful enough frap will be good for the job.

If not, you could try a video recorder (DV camera) over firewire.

I actually prefer using Play Claw over FRAPS. I find I get less slowdown with it as it offers multi-core support, and it even compresses the files slightly when you record so they're not ridiculously huge like FRAPS files.
