I am planing to build a computer that is a 13" X 13" x 13" cube. This will be made out of 8020 extruded aluminum 10 series. hardware will be: Gigabyte EP43-ud3l 2gb ddr2 ram for now (will be upgraded soon after completion) nvidia quadro nvs 440 (will be upgraded soon after completion to radeon 4670) Pentium dual core 3ghz O.C (will be upgraded soon after completion to E7500) 500watt power supply 500gb seagate barracuda 1 delta fan ccfl's total cost without upgrades $0 here is a little picture of the case i drew up quickly in inventor if you have any suggestions please post
Sorry but where you getting 8020 alloy, NASA? 10 series means nothing. My best guess is you meant Aluminium 6020-T4, as that is a common extrusion alloy as its almost as strong as steel in terms of yield strength. 8000 series lithium alloys are bloody expensive right now, and very few places in the world are extruding it.
8020 is a system of aluminium extrusions used for framing in industry. Like mechano for men who never grew up. Linkage Moriquendi
^ Correct. It's the stuff used here on the bot: See: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=182120
seems like its missing the all important 80/20, I read 8020 as an alloy not a system. Oh freaking well! lol!
placement I will place the psu in the upper right hand corner and i will put the mother board on the bottom of the case. The hdd will be on a shelf in the case. and the 2 light scribe drives will be mounted neer the top of the pc on the front.
If I hadn't been thinking about CNC mills recently and how to build them with no £££ I would have been just as confused Moriquendi
You may want to look at this: http://www.amazon.com/Perforated-Sh...4?ie=UTF8&s=industrial&qid=1265239142&sr=8-24 Instead of trying to CNC the acrylic. Saves some time esp. on design. You can use this on the back side to allow for increased airflow. The only problem is it's black. You may be able to find a clear perforated one. Look around. edit: Jut took a look, and clear Acrylic perforated sheets are EXPENSIVE! ($65 for 24x12")
polycarb yesterday i ordered the polycarbonate for the computer so should start building next week when it shows up
