I saw this last night (thanks to October for bringing me to the staff screening!) and was blown away by how great it is. Best new film I've seen this year by far. All I can say is just go and see for yourself. Even if you don't like Damon, I think you'll enjoy this. 5 stars from me!
It does look rather good, but I'm probably gonna wait until DVD release to see it. No one I know would be even remotely interested in seeing it.
Don't wanna watch the trailed, but if it's a bit different war movie (á la Hurt Locker) it might actually be half decent. Don't usually appreciate Damon too much, but he Departed was good none the less, so he isn't going to ruin a movie for me either.
Haha, nice. That's what ruined the last Bourne film. I wondered if this was worth watching, but having watched Hurt Locker (in a similar theatre) a couple of weeks ago I think it might be a let-down.
Can't compare to the hurt locker as it's still sitting on my hard drive waiting to be watched (might get a chance to see that tonight...) but it is definately up there with Bourne. Handheld doesn't make it nauseating for me because things like that would honestly never bother me, but if it's a problem for you I feel sorry for ya, because you're missing a great story and some great acting and directing as a result.
I believe it's mainly a hugely annoying and enormously over-used effect. Even if it doesn't make me sick, I'm sick with it.
Not by everyone, but Paul Greengrass is one of the prime culprits. The Bourne Ultimatum didn't make me feel sick, but it certainly made me dizzy in places and it was hard to tell was what going on at times, which in an action film just stinks of bad direction. Sure, it looks cool, but it's very annoying and unsatisfying for the viewer.
For anyone in the US, GetGlue.com gave me $20 of 'Fandango Bucks' (whatever they are) to see Green Zone, first person to reply who wants them can have them (I'll forward the claim email). Film looks great in my opinion, can't wait to see it sometime soon. Edit: 1 1/2 hrs and nobody wants them?! I'm off to see Alice In Wonderland now, but if anyone replies and wants them I'll get them to you within 24 hrs.
Not at all. Has a totally different flavour to Bourne IMO. Don't be fooled by the middle eastern setting or the war story, the hundreds of big strapping men running around in US military fatigues is the give away
looking forward to seeing this. havent heard much about it, but i preffer seeing a film knowing very little about it.
The opening car chase of Quantum of Solace is one of the worst offenders for shaky cam and quick cuts. I've seen that sequence 3 times and still have no idea wtf is going on. The director should be publicly kicked in the balls for that. Looking forward to seeing Green Zone.
QoS has many problems though, not just that... another would be that abbreviated, it looks like a modem/ router option abbreviation
The car sequences from the last few Bond's make me rather angry. The one in Casino Royale where a DBS magically flips over on a wet road is the worst offender. The QoS chase with the 159's at the beginning was pretty silly too. The 3.2 Q4's they used aren't slow cars, but compared to a DBS they may as well be a shopping cart, 30 seconds flat out and he'd have lost them. I know Bond films are supposed to have ridiculous sequences, but they were too realistically-presented to be funny.
Agreed on that, but you'll be happy to know there's nothing silly about green zone. The most interesting vehicles you have to see in a chase in it are US Military Humvees and old Iraqi scrappers like (I think) 106's and Ford Sierras
Well I went to see The Crazies last night and I'd suggest looking at something else if you were considering doing the same. I kinda wish I had waited until this weekend to see this or Shutter Island...
The trailer is very promising! I love action films and I love to watch them on a huge screen - it´s not the same feeling watching them at home!
