Just wondering, is this a SketchUp only contest or could the next one be open to other CAD platforms (in my case SolidWorks)? I like the 15 day deadline, keep it short.
i think i'll organize the next comp. and you can use any program you want, just no rendering for the first round, like it was this time. i'll try to design/make some medals for the winners ;P 15days seems a bit short, i would rather have 1month and then 1month votes. so not too many people miss it
First: Your HIRED !! Second: Just a thought about fairness, can we (and by we I mean you Dark) keep the details hush hush until the FIRST post i.e. the start of the competition? I don't know what kind of limits you have in mind, but I think you need to stick something peculiar in the requirements so we know that all the work was done 'after' the contest starts, or somesuch nonsense. Just my opinion, others will vary, and none of them smell very good.
A short deadline may backfire. Turnout was light this time around, and many didn't have the free time to finish. For a theme I say we build around the pico board model. Honestly, I've been trying to come up with ways to make it not look like an octopus when wired up. I think there's a real challenge to make something that still has connectivity, and doesn't look like poo. @Dark - You are perfect for the job. We've payed you handsomely in advance too.
ok, just need to get in contact with my mum who has an a3 printer! the local printing shop wasn't interested in such a low run -_-
soooo... let's see.. everybody okay if we start the next comp the 28.03.2010 ? I have a theme in mind, but i'll announce it when the comp will start. otherwise we can decide together on what theme it should have so everyone are happy with it. also if Bill would want to sponsor this comp too, it would be really great
