Does anyone have any hands-on experience with a Sapphire HD5850 featuring their new 3rd party cooler (warning, big image)? Or perhaps even a link to a review? I'm wondering how the new cooler stacks up against the reference cooler in terms of cooling and noise. I imagine it probably won't be as good as their Vapor-X cooler. Might still be an improvement on the reference one, even if it's pretty good as reference coolers go.
why couldn't they have come up with this when i bought mine. the stock cooler on mine is ridiculously loud.
Thank the FSM I was on the moon when I clicked that link, I just managed to see it without scrolling. My 5770s have a very similar cooler [without the shroud, as they're not as hot], it's much certainly quieter than stock, and they idle at 4ºC over case temp. That said get a Vapor-X. Even if you have to cheer up lonely sailors for a month, it's worth it.
I must be deaf as a post, i dont find the 5850 a noisy card. The default cooler is nearly silent at idle and when its motoring hard, ive got my speakers going anyway.
Probably going to be at least quieter, I mean it does look beefier. Of course you can always scour the net to see.
Compare the Vapor-X's price against it. remember Saphire tend to tweak the voltage train, hence why OCing is better. All depends on the price difference really
Well my audiologist did say i have close to cats hearing but my family can hear this windfarm when it goes above 33% fans. Maybe we're all a bunch of freaks XD
My 5850 came with a Gigabyte PCS+ cooler and it keeps my GPU below 73oc even with furmark running on full stress mode
I bought the Vapor X version from Amazon for £218 ( not toxic ). I ordered back in Feb, when the item was out of stock , but 'normally delivered in 3-4weeks'. Considering I couldn't find the card in stock while I was waiting I expected the card to be delayed further. So I was pleasantly surprised when on 26th of March my card arrived .
