I hope you didnt re-sell the 260 as 'fully functioning' ...

 

There was a die shrink in the version after mine. This is the 90nm Windsor core, with a HUGE 125W TDP. Mine's revision F3. The 3.1ghz version is the Brisbane core, on the G2 stepping. 65nm core, and a TDP is just 65W too. I needed an AM2 in a hurry, and this was all that was on sale at the time.

There was two 6000+ CPUs, and it's a bit of a mess back there.

 

Here is mine, 2 new 5770 GPU's replacing 4870X2. Similar performance but with DX11.



Have to use 10% - 15% more fan speed to keep the top card roughly the same temp as second card.

 

Which is why I would prefer a larger mobo, possibly with PCI-E lanes that can be used in any PCI-E socket, so I can keep the cards at least one slot apart.

thanks for explaining that =D mines the 3.1Ghz version so was looking at your sig and wondered lol. somehow mine managed to set itself to 3.0Ghz in the bios so thought something similar might have happened.

5870 Crossfire

Just finished my upgrade from GTX295 to 5870 crossfire I can has playz Krysis!



Temps are alright with just one extra fan in the Antec 300, l but I'll be adding another sharkoon shortly to be safe. I was quite worried about my Corsair 650w managing this rig, but I've found my draw from the wall maxing out at about 520w so far - considering efficiency etc. it's well within limits.

 

In celebration of the release of Flash 10.1 w/hardware acceleration, earlier today I purchased the ASUS EN210 GeForce 210 512MB DDR2 PCI-E 2.0 at Micro Center for $30 for my mother's aging Sempron-based Compaq desktop.

Her XP SP3 build has been screwing up majorly over the last few months, so I'm currently doing a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro on her machine. All the issues she had with streaming video playback will be a thing of the past with her now souped-up rig.

I feel like a good son.

 

Heh, naw. Just an older chip.

Know what makes me sad? The pixel pumper inside my system that allows me to max out Dirt 2 in DX9 @ 1680x1050 is a card that is more commonly used now as a dedicated PhysX card, or in media centres, or in old people's computers.

I haz a sad.

 

Really goes to show how you don't need a dozen fans to cool a CFX-setup, and how the 300 isn't exactly a "small case". I may actually have to link that picture when someone is getting a 1200 for his new gaming rig, just to keep his card cool

 

Roo - check out the various Antec 300 mods that are all over the web. One of the most popular is an attack with the dremel on the motherboard tray that makes holes for cable routing. By getting that rats nest behind the m/b, you will improve the airflow in your case.

It's something I am researching at the moment, I can't make up my mind about a case so may just buy a 300 for the hell of it.

 

Cheers Fingers - I will have a look at mods. Definitely buy the case to play with - it's cheap enough!

The system's just a mess right now because I wanted to get the cards in ASAP [I was drooling too much]. I have some bits yet to finish - like the SSD mounting bracket and fiddling with the power setup - and will clean things up after that. Honestly tho, temps are pretty fine so I might just try some cable ties etc.
