Yep Android 2.2 is out on unbranded Desires, it seems that my Orange version of the Desire does not yet have the update. Let me know if you have updated and how it runs
ooh, been running about 2 weeks with a leaked 2.2 ROM, too many nice features to pass up on. Will have to give it a go to see how it compares to the custom ROM versions
still waiting for it to come out in Canada... It has been listed as 'coming soon' for about 3 weeks now
Got mine yesterday... (Sunday) It has some nice new features. Just a bit gutted nothing physically looking hasn't changed. Not on my Desire anyway. Still new things to play around with.
Off the top of my head I can think of.... *rotate screen now works left and right *new icons on quick contact *shortcut to contacts on your screen now has a shortcut icon in the corner to indicate type of contact (I really hate this now as it takes up almost 1/4 of the picture) *messages has (slightly) different interface *as does Google search bar If anyone knows how to turn off that shortcut thing I mentioned I offer 100 eCookies.
linpack benchmark is comparable now 39 mflops instead of 9 ish? flash light app is nice, couple of icons changed. Full flash 10.1 on websites is the thing though, native bbc iplayer anyone? p.s. debrand that orange desire (like i did) and get stock software, less orange stuff in your face and get updates before they've had 5 months to either ignore it or fill it full of upsell apps
Using now, works fantasticly well. 720p recording is VERY sharp. havent seen anything like it on a phone before.
Anyone on O2 got the update? as i used the check update button on the phone and it said nothing was available
Had mine for the past three weeks. Advantages of non branded, sim free rooted Desire. I rather love it.
They also claimed that there will be something to sync music on your Desire with iTunes, but I can't find it. Am I just stupid or did it not make it to the release? Panic
That involves HTC Sync 3 which is currently only available to Wildfire owners. It'll appear sometime soon for Desire S/Ns as well. It doesn't really use iTunes, it just loads up your iTunes library and playlists and goes from there I think.
Indeed it does, and very well too. It's hella more reliable than HTC Sync anyway Get it while it's free: http://www.doubletwist.com
Latest Voda update is NOT 2.2, just a 2.1 respin with undeletable "Voda 360" apps & links. source Links include match.com - imagine your GF finding that on your phone!
Why would anyone want the branded ones? Seriously people, unbranded is the way to go. Root your phone already.
You don't need to unroot it to use the latest updates, they've already got them rooted too. Trundle over to XDA Developers, check out the desire section, it's all there. Myself, I'm using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
