Just dawned on me about 5 mins ago... I have my practical test tomorrow.. *gulp* Nervous just thinking about it tbh! Fingers crossed I get an examiner that'll talk to me, not just sit there... Any advice on calming myself before? I'm planning on a few cups of coffee to help me wake up before hand.. *gulp*
lol, stay off the coffee, and get and early night. Coffee will only increase your nervousness. Go out for a run or bike ride before bed, with a good warm down. It'll help you sleep. Don't over think what your doing, just remember what you've been told. Also if you fluff up a parking job, say to the examiner you've not finished and will be moving again. They don't expect someone to park the car perfect first time, as you know most people with many years under there belts still can't get it right the first time. I remember when i took my test (1st time pass) whilst sat in the car me and the examiner watched a young lad belt into the test centre and park in a disabled spot, we looked at each other and laughed as he had only just left the car park on his test. ROFL!
I drank a bottle of rescue remedy and a 1/2 litre bottle of Deep River Rock about half an hour before my test, on my instructors advice. I passed first time, with 3 minors. You'll be fine! Good luck
Get some decent sleep and just remember all the advice you've been given; providing you think you can do it you should be able to. I'm not the type to worry much, but I had the butterflies I'll admit when I did mine. Just relax and don't rush things. Remember to check those mirrors! Good luck man! PS. Unicorn, I got eight minors, you just destroyed my self esteem completely and irrevocably
For me, calmness comes with confidence. The better you know the roads and the car and the more driving experience you have, the easier the test becomes. If the examiner can see you are confident behind the wheel and not a nervous wreck you're halfway there, the rest should come naturally.
So, lots of sleep it is. I should be fine tbh. And as for belting it into the test centre? Unless I forget which pedal does what, I should be fine I'll try to head to the post office to post the stuff I need before the test, I can get some of that Lucozade energy stuff, not the fizzy stuff, the energy replenishment. Has woken me up more times that I care to remember. Yeah, mirrors, need to check them. I'm in a habbit of checking too early, if that makes sense. Going to take it all a lot slower tomorrow. I know the roads really well, seeing as all the test routes are in the town I live in, and I've cycled round here a fair few times. There's just one rounabout I hate. It's one coming off near the M5, has a dual carrigeway coming on to it, a rather busy trading estate, the main town centre, and the other end of the town. Hopefully it'll be a quiet day tomorrow. Thanks for all the encouragement!!
watch your hands too.. remember I had a bad habit of driving with one hand instead of at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel
Haha, it's the only car I've driven, so my opinion isn't really based on fact. More that I can just about fit in it, me being 6'5".
did mine in a focus titanium (1st pass) be calm, be cool, plan ahead and expect ****tards on the road.
What age is that Corsa? I tried fitting in the previous model, I'm 6 foot tall and it just did not work. If they've actually improved the driver's position then kudos to Vauxhall! I learnt in a Ford Focus, freakin' BIG.
They must have improved it...my knees were jammed against the steering column, nasty little car. New one looks pretty nice, not as nice as my Mk.4 Golf though
