I've currently got an AM2+ mobo that uses DDR2, and since RAM seems cheap right now I was considering getting 4-8GB of DDR3 for whenever IvyBridge comes out, in case RAM jumps in price around then. Just wondering if this is a good idea, and if so, what RAM would you guys suggest?
Well the price right now is pretty good, Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz is rather good it's what i have xD So if you have the money go ahead. Sent from Bittech Android app
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz And yes it is worth it! Will be a big step up from your 2GB A-Data DDR2 800. Bear in mind you'll need 64bit windows to utilise that extra RAM though. Whether prices will be better or worse when Ivybridge arrives is hard to say, but they are more likely to be cheaper tbh, but you can never tell. AT that point it'd also be cheaper to buy faster RAM, but for the time being it is still worth the extra bump to performance.
Thanks for the info/ opinions guys. I think I'll be getting 8gb of 1600mhz vengance RAM once I get paid. c: SirFur~ That's the 'wrong' computer, the one that would be getting the upgrades of IB and DDR3 has 4GB Gskill, still a pretty big step up I figure.
Yeah~ I'll be switching the 4GB in the desktop to the briefcase once IB comes out. It'll be nice having 4gb in there~
I keep reading 'price is pretty good... I built my machine 18 months ago, with 4GBs of regular DDR3 kit. I can now get 16GBs of one of the more 'premium' grade kits for the same price. I'd say RAM pricing is DAMN good! Throw those suckers in your machine NOW!!!
Hmm, I just posted about just the same thing. And yes, the price of the 8Gb Corsair kits is great right now.
1.35v anyone? http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...2x4GB)+DDR3+1600MHz+9-9-9-24+?productId=43961 EDIT: Doh, didn't realise the Corsair kits have dropped to £10+ cheaper than the above.
