Planning What to do with a PICO itx board - Ideas on a post card!

Have a surplus px1000g pico itx board - given the option what would you do with it!?!?!

I also have a spare 60gb SSD drive and a pico psu too.

A small music server ? Linux server ? Very compact devel computer for stuff like arduino, etc.

Mainly I'd put a Linux on it. This could be a very nice toy ... me drooling to have something like that

as GuilleAcoustic said, a small linux file server would be my choice, the C7 isn't up to anything strenuous...

 

If I had one, I'd run a Linux server on it (my current server runs on a 1GHz EPIA CPU with no problems running Samba, postfix & Apache). Add a largish hard drive and you'd be well away.

Of course, if you can't think of a use, send it to me and I'll put it to work

 

If I had one of those, I would put it inside a keyboard.

 

I simply cant find a use for it.. i have a htpc, a fileserver, a gaming machine and a car computer too. May have to wait until i am allowed access to the for sale area and sell it. Or ask for swaps and trades!

Was thinking could have a go at making a GPU computer

Oh yes ..... inside a keyboard ..... Amiga lover inside ! .... Damn car that sucked up all my hardly saved money .

 

I'd build a spherical casing out of multicolored plexiglas scraps on the fun side.
A practical idea for me would be to sneak it into my cavernous CNC controller box.

 

you should put it inside a computer to act as a monitor of liquid cooling temps, fan speeds, and if the pump is still running or not
you should also give it controll and the ability to shut down the main system if the pump fails or if it gets too hot
just my idea

Okay.. to put a different spin on this.. as what disturbed has said has given me a nice idea!
Anyone know of a program which will run on windows which will act as a monitor for liquid cooling?
Coupled with the ability to control leds based on the temperature of say the watercooling loop?

 

That's exactly why I want an even smaller and cheaper Raspberry Pi

I would use the Pico ITX as an emulator box, hidden behind the TV with wireless controllers.

 

I do not know the Rhaspberry Pi. Something is telling that I should urgently read about it .

For the watercooling monitoring, a femptoduino would be enough and a hundred times smaller.

Edit: that raspberry pi is a killer ! Now I can have a mobile development studio anytime anywhere. Hope it's coming soon

I would make it the Radio Beacon from BF3 or Motion Sensor ball from BFBC2 - complete with motion sensors and an armored case.
