Nice one, tell you what, just when you've finished the mod, I'll buy the drive and make everything a royal pain in the arse for you.

    Another small update! :D

More sleeving.. this time for the hard drive!

Steel plate made up to hide the hard drive and support the motherboard correctly.
Its slightly wider to allow some cables to be hidden from view.
Currently only in grey primer to prevent rusting.

The start of the power supply....
    13 strips cut to 11 cm's

One wired, soldered and sleeved power supply.
I had to sleeve the wires and push the sleeving down so i could solder them!
took a total of 2 hours and burnt myself 3 times :dremel:

Power supply in place - all cables reach with ease
Notice the extra 4 cables coming away from the power supply?
the yellow and black will be used to power the pump itself but i am waiting on a male p4 4 pin connector in the post.
The other black and white connector is the power supply feed.

Both of these will be sleeved and cables made to length as soon as i know how long they need to be :)

The cables do touch the radiator which lifts ever so slightly... this will be no issue but i will need to add another bracket to the top right hand corner of the radiator to contain the cables. :D

My lunchtime wasn't very much fun today but i did manage to do a little more!
Its these little tedious jobs which will make this project a success though....

in order to mount the 'new' heatsink i needed to make a way of holding it against the motherboard and then mounting the motherboard to the metal plate i made previously...

    so....

Added some m3 threaded screws to the mix... these screw into the threads in the heatsink.

Made some 4mm brass spacers from some brass tubing.
Filed this down to size and mounted accordingly

This was all held in place by an m3 nut the other side

there is one corner of the motherboard which the heatsink doesn't attach to. For this corner i will need to add in a 6mm spacer. For the moment though... 3 m3 nuts will do

I have on order some m3 hexagonal spacers which are 10mm long. These are threaded to take a m3 screw so i plan to jbweld these to the plate... and paint them black at the same time as the plate.
    :D

    :D
Its just taking so long :sigh:

Its not going to be the perfect way to do it.. obviously a copper cut base and then brazing them together would be the right way but i simply don't have the tools and having already spent a massive amount on everything i doubt i have the money either!

The heatsink wont get overly hot in any case i suppose its more for the novelty! :)

I've been busy working on other things that haven't had much to do with modding, so I've not made any posts in the worklog side of this forum for quite a while. That said, this project has definitely caught my attention. As a huge fan of Shuttles, PicoITX's, and computers in computers, I absolutely love what you are doing here. It's no small undertaking when it comes to making everything fit, but it looks like you've got a solid plan. I'll be watching... ;)

Needed to mount the hard drive - so pulled apart a laptop to steal the caddy!

The bracket didnt fit nicely in my plans... :grr:

So off with its head!!!! :dremel:

It was then epoxied to the bracket made previously!

Slight flap made to hide some of the cables

    That missing spacer made :thumb:

Nut added to the radiator to support top corner

Test fit to see if its still likely to fit.... though.. looking tight now!!

    on to the heatsink
    [IMG]
Mixture of J-B Weld and thermal paste

    First Stage

I've been kicking around a 2-in-1 sort of build for a while now. What I had in mind was ATX & Mini-ITX, though. This is pure madness!

    Subbing this - nice work!
