Hi, I am thinking about modding my old Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop to use as a HTPC in my bedroom. I thinking something along the lines of this: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=202281 for the actual case mod, however I was wondering on peoples opinions about making it VESA mountable so I can attach it to a nice mount on the wall. Thanks Stuart
Go for it- provided you can construct a sturdy back-plate of some sort to attach the vesa mount to ( which should be very simple ), it'll look & work fine- just consider cable routing & ventilation really.
But what! Thanks for the response. What do you reckon would be the best to make the back plate out of? Sheets of allu or do you think perspex would be strong enough?
I pulled a vesa plate out of an old lcd monitor for a similar build... looks like it's alluminium, about 1mm thick. Looks like it would be easy enough to make, but how to get threads in I don't know :/
Cool! Thanks a lot, I have a friend who can order and laser cut acrylic for me. Which leaves me only one more question. What is the best way to bend and bond acrylic? Sent from Bittech Android app
