SketchUp Raspberry Pi stackable case

This is a case concept in the works. It involves a aluminium case a few mm's larger then the raspberry pi unit.

I've included venting holes into the design to allow heat to dissipate. I'm unsure about what to do to hold the rpi down, perhaps using Neoprene sponge underneath and having side clips holding it firmly down.

Any ways some screenshots. (also note this will be satin black brushed aluminium and purple acrylic with leds behind to glow.)

Ahh, so you are going with the stack

Are you not going to try watercooling it either?

It might be worth getting a custom made water block, and like I said, have it arcing across the screws to the CPU and RAM, problem is where would the fan go..

Just a quick question, as I'm having the same problem on mine, how did you hide the fact that the USB ports stick out like an eyesore?..

 

Made the case cover the largest connector so some parts might be deeper then others.

 

Ahhh, I may just put an extra 1mm on the front of it, so it covers the USB Port...

Still using metal? Or going plastic?

Going to keep this as cheap as possible, I want to play some Terraria goodness on it.

 

Also another thought Dweller, why not cover all the ports on the second one you're using to stack? Might look a bit neater?..

I would blank them out..Unless you want to dual boot for some reason..

 

Water cooling would kind of defeat the purpose of having a cheap, low power compact platform.

 

But it would look pretty sweet wouldn't it? If you do have the money it would be worth it, but it would be pretty pointless as whats there to cool?..

 

A couple of copper pipes on top of the chip would prob do just aswell though jake

Some beautiful mods could be made with passive copper heatsink arrays. Pretty and functional. That is what good design is all about.
