Are there any slot loading DVD drives that fit in the 5.25" bay? I'm sick and tired of tray loading drives with the grinding to open and the flimsiness and the getting the disc on slightly off center so it grinds and whines until I yank it open and center the disc (or, one time, just snapping the disc in half). I much prefer slot loading drives, I don't care if it costs twice as much as a regular disk drive, I just want to know if they exist.

BTW: slot drive are known to scratch disks. A quality brand DVD drive would be your safest bet. Blue-ray drive tend to have better build quality.

Alternativly discover Steam and ripping to HDD/ virtual drives :D

    Your's sound broke then
I don't see how slot loading will be any better, just loads different

You can get an 5.25" adpater to fit a laptop drive in (and hold another HDD), will link if can find it again

All my Macs have had slot load drives and not one of them has caused any damage to discs. I use Steam. I still need to do software installs from discs since the damned medium just won't die.

Sorry to be of no use, but am I the only person that misread the thread title?
