Well i was amazed i was looking around ebuyer. no im not doing any promos but saw the Crucial 256GB M4 SSD at £179.99 has the time come that soon these drives will break into the mainstream. at this price and lower they start to grab my attention and with a good name behind the drive with 3 year warranty. im holding out till end of q3 this year but if prices drop further who knows. just wanted to share.
Look at Scan, grabbed a 128GB M4 on there for £89 with free delivery!!! I think NAND prices have crashed, so SSD's have dropped in price...
I guess the question is how low can they go? Was tempted to grab another 128GB M4 for my Mac Pro but I'm not desperate... would be interesting to see how low can the 256GB model get
It's great news for all, as it means SSD's can become even more main stream. Shame the 1TB OCZ SSD is still close to £2000 Sam
im thinking of buying another ssd, a 256gb one this time. what would you lot use it for, os and programs? and then put games on my 64gb one? 256gb seems quite big for just os and programs though
Your games would fit on a 64GB SSD? My games partition would barely (if at all) fit on a 256GB drive. Buy ALL the games!
Uhh, I would use the 64 for OS and Apps and then the 256 for your games. My games take up 500gb however.
As a result of the price drop I've just received my £176 Crucial M4 256Gb from eBuyer. Paid for super-saver delivery, received it next day. Get in! Although, to be fair I probably won't install it until the weekend. My first SSD too - can't wait!
insane. yeah my games would pretty much fill the drive also i thought the 256 would be better for os, as it is the faster drive. i don't care as much for speed in game loading than i do for app and os loading
Now we just need mechanical hdd's to fall back to the level they were at before the floods and we will be laughing.
Right, it seems as though I'm getting closer and closer to buying an SSD. I'm still confused as to what's what. Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to buy this Mushkin Drive as oppose to something like an M4, or Vertex 3 or any other similarly priced drive? Any good guides/info on the differences between SSDs and the pros and cons of the main drives would be helpful.
