Ok so the RMA was rejected. They said they updated the BIOS to work with new Ivy Bridge chips. Yet I get no video output what so ever. I have an I3 2120 in a ASRock H61M-GS Motherboard micro ATX LGA1155. I get no video output on the GPU or the motherboard outputs so cant even update the BIOS myself. The ASrock website states that this CPU was always supported. How would I go about updating the motherboard?
Afaik the only way to do it (assuming that the motherboard actually works) is to use a Sandybridge chip in the board, update the bios and then switch in the Ivybridge chip. I'm guessing you've not got a SB lying around?
I just put in a 2500k. Yet there was still no video output. from either the motherboard or the video card. They claimed to have updated the BIOS to allow Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge to function but I cant see how.... Stumped :S
Remove the GPU card and put the Ivy in and boot. You might get to the bios then. Sent on my CM10 JB powered i9100 by TapaTalk 2
I have sent the PSU off and it came back with no faults. RAM has been checked too and has no faults. I also tried different slots, tried it in my machine and it worked fine. Swapped my normal RAM out too and tried it in both slots and still no change.
(Don't beat me for asking this, but) Did you connect the 4/8-pin CPU connector as well to the board ? Are you sure your cable from the graphics output to the monitor is fine ? Are you sure your display is returning valid EDID if you use the DVI output (VGA should work even with invalid EDID, but Intel+bad EDID=no display output). Did you connected a PC speaker to the board ?
