I go the custom case with high end everything. CNC Machine etc. And forget retail Motherboard Id go to my favourite manufacturer and get them to create a one of a kind motherboard with the latest chipset.
If it's money no object I'd just buy Intel, AMD and nVidia and tell them to get working. This question is rather silly
screw the titan. this idea is better. WAAAY better. Can anyone say 256gigs of ram? and custome thermal armor? and room for a high end sound card btween the four 690's? i can!
Who cares about the hardware? I would want all of the processing power that I needed but I would not want to see the PC or give a crap about the specifics.
This. But if you really want specifics, then for me that'd be a mid/high Xeon in a Supermicro board - one capable of taking a second CPU so I've got some upgrade headroom there. 34GB of memory, again thanks to Supermicro I could easily up that to 64, or 128 when the time comes. A 64Gb SSD for scratch, a 128Gb SSD for OS+Applications and a few TB for client files and textures - mirrored off site of course. A Quadro 2000. A Lacie monitor. An A1 plotter, preferably Epson. And I have everything else I need.
isnt the point to see the end result to sit back and marvel at the glorious rig you poured blood, sweat, and tears into?
I wouldn't pour any liquid into my computer. To be honest, once I'd built the most powerful consumer PC, I would then take out a stopwatch and count how many milliseconds it takes until something better is created.
smartaleck. and good point, but if you think its great, thats what matters. its all a matter of "imo". now if you talk about raw power then thats a given. each time smomething better is made the time decreases. curse moores law. actually by the time you think of it something better has been thought of.
A pair of Vox Olympians Lamm Industries ML3 Signature Mono Amplifiers 3x Quato Intelli Proof 300 Excellence monitors A Wacom Cintiq 24HD Touch... or two, just 'cause... A bunch of mech keyboards. Some quad CPU SLI setup. Don't care that much as long as it works... I'd also hire some awesome modder to build the case etc. Thinking about this stuff makes me drool...
I would kit out a room dedicated for LAN parties. I would have shelving units stacked with components (Old and New, showing in chronological order for a bit of history) - Don't ask why, I thought that would be a pretty cool idea... Rigs would all be the same apart from mine. Rigs would include: Custom Painted 800d's 2 680's 3960x's 2 x 256 GB 830's Dell 30" IPS Everything Water cooled to the max Customized Mech Keyboard's and Mice with a huge set of interchangeable keys. 40" All around the room displaying games etc... Some epic surround sound speaker system... A fishtank built into the wall (for the lols)... Customized Tables and comfy chairs...
I'd buy a passive ITX case for an i3-3220T with no GPU ... ... and ... ... a pair of floorstanding horn loaded Feastrex full range speaker with dual mono single ended triode valve amplifier
I'm on my way to actually getting my dream money is no option build with the recent addition of a Dell U3011 30" Monitor and Denon AH-D7000 headphones. 2 GTX680's and a 512GB SSD in the post aren't gunna hurt either. Bah! Who needs savings anyway?
Think bigger folks. I would commission a cinema-like room with all the highest end components. Massive speaker system, ultra-HD projector, uber comfortable seat(s), with custom designed and built CPU and GPU array to power it all at some silly resolution. Then I'd have the whole thing built on a full motion simulation platform, with all the highest end peripherals - steering wheel, flight yoke, highest end keyboard/mouse/controllers etc. Wind machine optional. Oh, and I'd probably have half a dozen made for LAN parties with style. Then I'd probably spend a few hours a month using it in between living my life to the fullest and raising my family. It's not looking likely though
maybe have the game select a peripheral depending what youre doing? mouse/keyboard for running, yoke for flying, wheel for car, etc? maybe hot air blowers/ rumblers for explosions? would be complex but end result would be you needing a new pair each gaming session. chair on hydraulics along w/ screens would help with sensing orientation. im a realism lover what can i say?
