Help, Just done a fresh install with 2x Corsair Force Series 3 120gb in RAID 0 on my friends computer. set up RAID in the bios and selected all the right things in the intel storage menu (ctrl + i) He has asus P8Z68-V/GEN3 We are only getting seq speeds or 428mb/s ish What have we done wrong? i installed the f6 drivers before install etc.
On the Gen 3 does it not have the intel and the marvel sata 3 ports? If so make sure they are the intel ones.
they are in the 2 grey ports opposed to the 4 normal sata. When i open the intel storage thing it is showing my array. so im 100% certain i have done this right
What OS have you installed? Are you running with the "F6" drivers that you supplied during the installation? If so, you need to install the proper drivers, "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" I believe they're called.
Im guessing you have used crystaldisk mark. Thise drives work on compressible and async NAND doesnt help. Run ATTO and itll get 1000+ This would be a case of customer buying based on paper specs. Its a little misleading but such is life. Research first would have you purchase sync NAND or toggle based drives at the very least not cheap async.
Samsung 830 and Crucial M4 are the models you should check out. The Samsungs have been a bit cheaper than the Crucials lately.
kingston hyper X is the same sort of thing as a Force GT or Vertex 3. Much better than the Force 3 as itll run toggle NAND or Sync. Your best bet however is Vertex 4, Samsung 830 series. At a push the M4 but its getting a little aged now.

Samsung then. The Kingston although great on paper and made by "kingston" is essentially a Vertex 3 so is plagued with similar issues should they still remain. Get the samsung. Best money you will ever spend in my opinion.
Yep 830's are great little drives, I was initally put off by the numbers too but they perform very well
I'd still struggle to recommend an ssd not made by intel if reliability is your main goal, Samsung makes a decent case for itself with the 830 series. Benchmarking only reveals the flaws of 1 drive vs another, the headline figures most ssd post are with highly compressed data. Once you spam 2000 none compressible files at them the performance becomes a lot more real life like. Best to just view the read speed, write speed near Irelivent long term anyway. Faster it reads then the faster your applications that you install on it can load. ( this does not apply if photo or video work is your main thing the. Fast read and fast write is of = importance)
I have 2 of the Corsair Force 3's 120Gb drives in Raid 0 on the same board and when I benchmark them in ATTO, I think it is I always get around 1000Mb but in anything else I only get around 200Mb up to 400Mb. I am getting rid of the raid though and going to a 256Gb drive instead because I am getting some stabillity issues whilst running the raid, regardless of what speed I run the cpu at and regardless of the drivers. I don't think the board is that good though when it comes to Raid so eventually I will swap the board out and test again.
