I'm considering an upgrade of my GPU, but I don't think I'll bother if there's not going to be much worth buying over the next year. So what games are you guys looking forward to? The last real killer app for PC IMO was Battlefield 3 and there hasn't really been much since then.
Killer Apps? lol Moving on from that bit of weirdness.. BioShock Infinite - February 26th 2013 Metro: Last Light- Q1 2013 Company of Heroes 2 - Early 2013 Tomb Raider - March 5th 2013 StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm - Q1 2013 Hitman: Absolution - November 20th 2012 Assassin's Creed III - November 23, 2012 Watch Dogs - Q1 2013 ..are just some of the titles I'm looking forward to in the next 6 months or so.
Only one that really interests me on there is CoH2. I've noticed a distinct lack of games that have piqued my interest lately. I really need the first part of SC2 before getting an expansion, Dishonoured is on my Christmas list though, pretty much the only game. *edit* Oh wait, I forgot, Far Cry 3. Maybe Crysis 3 too, but I should get Crysis 2 first, *edit2* Oh, and Lego Lord of the Rings,
It isn't technically an expansion! It is a game divided into equal parts for each race. But yes, play the first one err first! If I could only play one game on that list though, it would be Company of Heroes 2! Can't wait for it.
1) Arma3 2) ArcheAge 3) GTA 5 4) Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition 5) some other stuff depending on reviews, the new C&C game, Simcity 5, etc.
I was looking forward to the new C&C game... Right up until they announced it would be changed to a free-to-play title. GTA5 looks promising though.
AAHHHHH! too many games. Can't buy them all. must. There's only 3 thats been mentioned here that i'm not particularly keen to get.
I am waiting for Arma 3 especially (figures) - might have to go easy on other games as A3 will be the benchmark from which I upgrade my PC - which is probably going to require me to sell one of my children! Having said that Bioshock:Infinite, Watchdogs, GTA:V and AC3 are also top of the list - might have to sell the other child as well!
I refuse to acknowledge anyone who calls a long-awaited game an "App". Your iPhone called; it wants its crappy moniker back.
Company of Hero's 2. ARMA3. Both look equally amazing and will probably preorder them. Watch Dogs looks very interesting, will need to investigate more into that. LOL EDIT: Yes Rainbow Six! I agree with True_Gamer! Totally forgot about that.
I'm looking forward to Rainbowsix Patriots, as its the only decent online tactical shooter. Rainbowsix vegas 1 and 2 have been played to death so far, and not many people play online these days...Which is a shame, as it knocks the socks off BF3 and COD IMO.
Agreed on this - also related to this I am also looking forward to Takedown (Kickstarter project) and also Ground Branch (which although did not meet it's Kickstarter goal is still being made - I think!). Both of these are tactical shooters which for fans of Rainbow Six and Arma respectively is a good thing!
The phrase killer app has been used for decades to describe AAA game titles. Don't get your knickers in a twist.
Erm... Decades? Really? I sincerely doubt it. I've never heard it used in reference to Triple-A games before today.
Oh, well if it's on Wikipedia it must be true... *sigh* There's no mention of when it became a used term, only that it is now. In all the decades *I* have played games, I've never heard a gamer refer to a game as an "App" until very recently, and even then, an "App" is still synonymous with mobile gaming rather than a console or PC.
FFS! You must be ****ing insufferable to be around IRL. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/killer app Quote: "First Known Use of KILLER APP: 1988"
