Question is, do you Google places that you've found or not? Set number of searches? e.g. I just got stuck on a dirt road in the middle of the rural US. A thousand miles to the sea, no idea about which towns are which... There's only so far you can go down an arrow-straight road before getting bored.
Got 19696 points the first time i tried it. got lucky on a bridge in canada, just had to travel a couple of hundred of meters, and it had a huge map over the whole region and the name of the place, I was 0.019km away from the correct place. I am currently navigating the wide open areas of norther Norway to find some kind of sign, I know the general area, bu I want to pinpoint it
See, travelling is cheating! You should try and do it without moving the camera (apart from rotation), relying on what is in front of you. I had another go, and guessed I was in Japan. Rural Japan. So I randomly put a pin in Okinawa, and was 0.02km off. I laughed.
Having played quite a few times I think that there should be a time multiplier of some sort. Faster tries=more points.
Managed to get this one very close, only because I've been on holiday here a few times. What are the odds of getting somewhere you visit often? I definitely agree some kind of multiplier should be added to the game. Perhaps as well as a multiplier based on time spent looking, another multiplier could be based on how many clicks or the distance you travel from the start location to work it out?
22k points, but I got right on the spot with one place, because it stuck me right next to a sign saying where I was..
13k points, but limiting myself to not moving at all, just panning and zooming. Got to within 100km of some random nondescript place in Brazil
Dumped in the middle of a football stadium with the club's name (Wolfsburg) spelled out in coloured seats. Lucky
16108 on first try - closest was 0.155km. It depends how much 'googling' people allow themselves to do. I used only the picture and my own guesswork and did not look-up the clues or place-names/signs that might have been in the picture. (aside from scanning the small map on the right for the place name if spotted)
I've yet to see anyone get such a colossal fail as I did. North Dakota looks just like South Africa after all Doh, even worse, Florida is not Tasmania - 15469km
More fun playing with no movement... 1) Correctly guessed Japan, just the clear opposite corner of it 2) Mistook Norway for Canada... snowy road, middle of nowhere, lots of trees 3) Dusty road, Namibia, Australia, same thing, right? 4) In the middle of some farmland which could have been pretty much anywhere in northwest Europe, guessed mid-France, was in Poland 5) This is getting ridiculous. Dusty trail, densely forested, clearly at elevation. Guessed northern Idaho, was in fact just south of Mexico freaking City... Total: 7112 EDIT: OH COME ON! Who on earth in Virginia has a Peugeot 405?!?! I call shenanigans!
