Oh FFS: http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/samsung.asp Not only is this story nearly a year old, it has been disproved as fake a dozen times over- please try doing a search before posting such crap and acting like it's funny or remotely plausible....
Good thing the fine was not to be paid in Euros. If it was Apple would only have to accept up to fifty coins. Edit: Seems as though Apple would not have to accept the fine in coins either.
As far as I know it is Illegal to pay large debts in small Denomination coins in the UK not so sure about other countries Longweight matey, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that. also in reply to suicide I haven't seen this article before only saw it for the first time the day I posted it the purpose of which was to provide some humour on here to offset all the negativity that's been on here of late in some threads,I do not for one minute believe this to be true just found it funny would be great if it were true though wouldn't it. Thanks for the headsup btw
When me and my brothers were younger we would be absolute little buggers and order takeaway when the driver came we would hand over roughly £14 in penny's and two pences bagged in £1s and the line after handing them over was 'you can count them if you want'in which we generally got a it's okay I remember one guy refusing to take the money in about 14 so wasn't bad odds that it got accepted
is it legal to refuse legal tender? (in the states...) i remember seing a clip on the youtube where a guy had his car towed, and chose to repay the debt by ... repaying the debt... in pennies. the company refused him at first, but then he started yelling that "it's legal tender" "you have to accept it!". someone called the cops, the cops forced the company to accept the pennies as payment. (can't remember the exact sum... somewhere along the lines of $200us?)
At work, we sometimes turn away large amounts of coin or restrict, say, coppers to £5 worth in a single transaction. Of course, it's all dependant on the size o the queue!
