Let me clarify. He was driving solo, I hopped in to lend a hand manning the .50 cal. He took 2 RPG hits and he jumped out to repair the tank and I took over the driving seat and covered him (co-ax LMG + cannon).

I had to scoot a few metres forward to kill a support player running at me with C4 and to keep him alive.

I hopped out and gave him the tank back. He shot me with the aforementioned comment.

I'd pretty much consider that as a d***head thing to do. Crap like that reminds me so well why I dislike playing with pubbers generally.

Similarly to twats teamkilling me with C4 when I'm in an LAV-AD/Tunguska and doing a good job of it and they want it because they're 'something special'.

I used to enjoy Sienne Tanking, joinning a pub server and going for some cheap kills. But after sitting in spawn waiting for the tank as it had just gone down and having it's driver sit there waiting too.

Telling me to go away, shooting at me, swearing and what not I decided i would simply go afk for ten minutes and sit where the tank spawns. Was none too impressed when I finally moved a drove off with the tank.

I find Battlefield gets too serious too much and people cry when things don't go their way so I rarely play it anymore.

Um it's a forum, you call it a debate, I call it a discussion. I never said you had to have the same opinion, I was proving my points, whether you actually see any insight by reading someone elses opinion, is another matter. I look forward to seeing you in bf4, where I'll more than likely be doing the tank thing :thumb:

Ah yeah, no that sucks man. Thats pretty much why I don't play hc, but lets not go there.

Thats why I dont ever play on seine/davamand/bazarre only servers. You'll get a lot more people on those servers specifically who want to have a run in the tank. I have a few servers in my favourites that have 100% vehicle spawn (very important imho, as instant spawn rewards bad players) and maps from all the dlc's, so if seine or davamand is on, it's anyone's guess as to whos going to get the good spawn to get the tank. Also, I never tank on one of those servers unless I have a friend on teamspeak, as you will ultimately get some random recon/medic/support in the tank with you or someone sabotaging your tank or whatever.

I just wanna rant a bit, feel free to just ignore me.

I don't know about here, but a lot of my friends from other areas of life woefully lack vision, at least to me. Pretty much everyone I've talked to just passes off the Battlescreen/commander mode on tablet stuff as a gimmick in BF4. I'm not saying that it's not, but I want to say that it's a very very important gimmick, a lot more important than most people seem to think.

I see this move as one that really sets BF4 ahead of its time. To my knowledge, this is the first high profile deep integration of a PC and tablet experience in a single app (correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't change my argument much). Most of the stuff before now has been limited to cloud data storage so you could play a level of angry birds on your computer and pick up your phone to continue. Battlescreen allowing you to see a map live while you play and even give you commander controls is a lot deeper than just allowing you to say edit builds in your free time at work (which it lets you do anyway).

I think people have become too entrenched in the idea that one device must win, the PC or the tablet/mobile. Either device prevailing over the other would be a less desirable future than if the two technologies became integrated. Imagine if you could split control of other apps to tablets. What if you could use a tablet to control your tools in photoshop, use the touch screen to adjust brush angle or perhaps even smoothly transition colors while you make a stroke. What if you could transfer CAD designs between PC and tablet so you could take advantage of a tablet's multitouch to manipulate your structure in a way that would take you longer to do on the computer then put it right back?

The PC is undoubtedly more powerful than the tablet, but the mouse and keyboard really are limited controls. Touch on the PC has never been very fluid. Screens are too big and at least in my experience touching a mounted vertical surface isn't as nice as working on a tablet. The tablet's touch interface and portability can be used in conjunction with the PC's power to do amazing things I think, but we just haven't had much integration yet. We've been considering these devices in a void when integration could yield so many more benefits.

I don't know if BF4 is the first, but it's certainly one of the bigger/higher profile attempts at truly integrating a desktop and tablet experience. And it looks like they're doing it pretty well. You don't NEED both (you could just command from PC if you wanted to or you could play on your tablet without a PC), but having both would make the experience a lot better. In that way, I think BF4's battlescreen is an example of DICE working ahead of the current time to push a future that would be beneficial to everyone regardless on their view of mobile/desktop technology.

Maybe I'm just full of myself and over analyzing a gimmick, but I don't think my vision for an integrated future is bad. Imagine if something like Google Glass 2.0 could project a HUD for you without making you look in the upper right of your vision to see it. What if someone made an app for that that highlighted threats while playing some game? That kind of integration would be really cool I think, and regardless of how BF4 turns out I'd really like to see it in the world some day.

They clearly never played BF2. It's a very unique and integral part of the game.

Agree with the rest of your post. If I could have a tablet by my left hand to pick out tools and colours quickly and my right hand on a graphics tablet that would be brilliant.

I agree with you, the combination of tablet/PC is something that has always appealed to me. This technology has been experimented with before in DCS A10...

There was also the beginnings of something with Arma2, but I am not sure how far it got.

The potential for this is great as having a secondary device to control things that otherwise you would have to pause and/or switch screens for is a great addition to strategy or simulation based games.

It is one of the main reasons I was interested in WiiU - just to see where they would take it. The method used in ZombieU for example was extremely immersive.

These things can turn out to be gimmicky of course, but it is up to the game designers to identify the need for a secondary device and implement the system accordingly, rather than just trying to think of an excuse to use it as so often happens with secondary devices.

If we do get some BC2 maps I'd love to see:

    Valparaíso
    White Pass
    Nelson Bay
    Laguna Presa
    Port Valdez

BC2's rush maps were so much better than BF3's because they were specifically designed and balanced for Rush. Would love to see a return to form here. I don't care if Rush and Conquest maps don't cross over. The game will be better off as a whole if the maps are specially designed for certain game modes and don't appear in others.

I have to agree most BC2 maps where designed with Rush in mind over conquest. The mixing of maps as they are and slamming in a mode that didnt work was woeful.

Op Metro imo is a rush map over conquest. And Dice dropped the ball with it.

Having maps designed to be purely Rush would be a great approach. I dislike rush because if the poor map design.

Terahn Highway is a better rush map than it is Conquest any day.

Lets hope they get things right.

I have pre ordered BF4 yet. Im going to play the beta, see how I feel and go from there.

The Bit Tech mumble users play more of other games now over BF3 because BF3 is pretty much over.

I do enjoy dropping in for a few intensive rounds where we play the objective and squad up.

And rarely troll anymore. Though I will possibly get some rounds in just for lols soon.

Wow this thread seems to have gone off the rails a little bit since I last had a gander.

In any case, what are everyone's thoughts on the squad perks and specialisations that have been revealed for BF4? Reddit's been buzzing with some consternation over the 'defensive' vs. 'offensive' field upgrades.

The very good thing is that the new system brings the end of perk stacking. If you can only select predefined paths, that would be annoying but would conscribe specialisations to the Rock, Paper Scissors philosophy of Battlefield's game design. Five or so weeks to beta though.
