Thanks, so far I've been quite pleased with the rad. Especially nice when it comes time to paint the enclosure :thumb:

Thanks Bill, I'm sure you'll get to see it in person at some point too ;)

My Jigsaw and my Drill are both BOSCH, and I have been extremely happy with both. Definitely glad I spent the money to get quality tools :dremel:

A little taste of what comes ahead...

This was an idea I came up with after seeing a similar concept used for a game at a Dave & Busters that I went to a few months ago.

Thanks man, I'm hoping people like it :thumb:

Thanks Ace. It's out of a normal monitor. There are "transparent" LCDs available that aren't tinted, but from what I was able to find, they're quite a bit more expensive.

I bought a "for parts or repair" AOC 16" USB monitor on eBay, that had backlight issues for $30 shipped, and took the LCD panel out of it. Should work pretty well, as it doesn't require dedicated power, or running anything to the outside of the case to the GPU. Just a USB plug, which I can run to the motherboard header with an adapter. :)

Well, slight change of plans, as I was hoping to get a different update out, but I think I’ll just continue on with the LCD mounting instead.

Here I have the LCD panel fitted between two pieces of acrylic.
One piece is 2mm thick and is on the front of the LCD, and the other is almost 6mm thick, and is on the back.
The 6mm is on the back to prevent it and the side panel from bending too much, and breaking the LCD panel.

Little hard to see, since everything is clear, but I used 2 layers of 3M Scotch 4010 Tape. I put down the first layer, then put the LCD panel in, and put the second layer over that.
I essentially suspended the LCD between the two pieces of acrylic using the tape, to aid in decoupling any bending from the panel by way of the rubbery properties of the tape.

After getting the LCD panel mounted to the acrylic as an assembly I could manage, I used more 4010 tape to mount 3 strips to the larger back acrylic panel.

Reason for using the acrylic strips instead of just the tape, was so that it would be flush with the front of the LCD assembly.

After getting the whole assembly together, in comes the panel.

Yes, more 4010 tape to mount it to the side panel.

Checking for alignment… pretty much spot on :)

A little electrical tape down first (just in case), and then mounted the PCBs with more 4010 tape, given its non-conductive properties.

And testing it out to make sure it works before I make and install LEDs.

As always, thanks for checking it out and commenting. Hopefully I’ll have an update by the end of the week :D

Great job with the LCD dude :thumb:

3M 4010 is so useful isn't it, it's a shame it's not easier to get hold of in the UK though, I have to buy it from China....

I can't wait to see the finished build, it's going to look awesome :D

    Thanks :)

Looks like Nexxo shared a link that'll help. It is pretty nice. I should have bought a big roll of it, though, as I burned through 2 small rolls doing the side panel lol (I wasted about half of it by screwing up trying to cut it the first time, and it got all mangled).

    Thanks Ace!

Thanks Egami, it's about 20% 4010 tape, though, so your ratio might be off

    Thanks Nexxo :thumb:
(thanks for sharing that link for comrade woody, and anyone else who may benefit from it)

Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to capture it well for final reveal... it's a bit tricky with the camera

haha, it can be quite fun (but also quite frustrating)

I sense an opportunity there ;)

    Thanks Craig :D
