Ordered one from Amazon but they sent the wrong thing If any knows where to get one, I would appreciate it
Had the same problem with my build a few years ago. It was beige or black back then. Maybe try mouser, they seem to have a lot of bits that are hard to find.
Just rub the parts down with some Scotchbrite scour pad and apply white paint with a spraycan. Problem solved Especially if it's only the plastic-part in the front that needs to be white, that's 10 minutes of work.
I decided to paint my case white, and had the same problem. The front of the dvd tray unclipped on mine, aswell as the casing around it, quick spray paint and back on again. Finish off with a clear coating if you want it to be more hardwearing.
Forget paint, use vinyl dye. It's 100% better for plastics. It's much more hard wearing than paint and about a quarter of the work since it doesn't require sanding, priming, clear coat... etc. I've long use vinyl dye for such things, mice, keyboard body... etc to make all color match with case themes.
Vinyl dye come in spray can, just like paint but without all the extra work. It's even easier to get a good finish if you are not experienced in spray painting. it goes on very thin and gets into the plastic which also preserve textures. VHT Penetrating in my choice. Probably find some at automotive shop, it's intended application is vinyl car seats/dash etc. The only con it has for PC customizing is the limited color choices.
This is interesting. Do you think it would work on changing the colour of my mouse from red to white?
Yes that will work. I made my MX Revolution from it's dark grey to white. I did it like years ago and the finish is still perfect even after all that contact with my hand.
Well... I bought some vinyl dye from the shop, when home and disassembled the mouse and sprayed the shell. I gave it some time to set then put it back together... and have been using it ever since. It is much the same as spray paint, just needs less steps and care for it to turn out well. It's not rocket surgery.
Just picked up some white vinyl dye for my own stuff. Thanks for the link! Back to the original topic though, as has been said, just unclip the bezel and spray with vinyl dye. Give a good amount of time to dry and there we go. I'd love to see what the MX Revolution looks like in white Ivan!
