Case Mod - In Progress Maximus Acrylik - [Finished 31/01/2016]

Hi everyone

My name is Gonçalo and I work at Acrylikustoms, a shop that dedicates to laser cutting and engraving.
With the acquisition of a laser cutter it open a lot of doors in terms of modding and parts customization so I decided to show it, by doing parts to a well know case.

The Silverstone TJ07.

The project basically consists in making every part in plexi. Top Backplate, Bottom backplate, top grill, side panels, custom SSD mounts, etc.

The list of hardware that is going to be used.

To make this project I inspired in the “murdermod theme” because from the first day that I saw that case I has blown away by the looks of it and since then I never lost hope of trying to make a similar one to me.
Instead of going with the usual black and red theme I decided to make a yellow and black one, with a couple of gray (sleeved cables) on it.

Maximus Acrylik - 25th November 2015 [Update 01/12/2015]

I still don´t know if I will make a illuminated version on the front plate or not.

Motherboard Tray:

I decided to make a extesion plate for the motherboard tray because I never know that in future I need to change the position of some component or even change the reservoir I don´t need to make a new motherboard tray.

I put some holes in the back of the motherboard tray to attach some "P-Clips" to hold cables in place and also a CPU cover in case I need to take the CPU block for maintenance and the usual USB internal cables EPS 8 Pin cable,...

Made a simple one just to hide the holes of the case:








Every hole is countersunked:

I will need to cut holes to pass throught the tube from the reservoir and the CPU to the radiator as soon as it arrives.

Hi again everyone

Started to make a structure for the my SSDs.
Wanted something different from only put the SSD´s into a "usual" cage.

So after making some renders I come up with something like this:











Now with live shots:


I started to make the "blocks" for the SSD from a 3mm yellow plexi sheet with small holes in the sides, then put washers inside those small holes and tap them with a final plate.

I left a small room to put a custom made led strip






Came up like this:













Decided to put some sleeving to hide the white cables and 3 Pin connectors will be switched for black ones:











After everything assembled:





Decided to make a SSD cover, even if its almost hided.





Didn´t like much how the blocks were assembled so I decided to put a "small final touch" in the sides and front:







I put a plate in the bottom with one objective, you will see it later





Turned on the led strips and came up like this:







Pretty cool effect I must say and turned out was I wanted.

Hi everyone once again

Some stuff that arrived here

New reservoir, radiator, sleeving and some custom parts

This thing is a BEAST!!!!! INSANE SIZE









I´m going to use a fan splitter just because there´s to much stuff to get connected:

Meanwhile started to make some custom sleeved cables.

How I love to do this stuff, never get tired of this despite being a little time consuming:

Other cables for connecting the pump, leds and other stuff have all been done with single connections to the power supply, so in case I need to shut down any component:













Didn´t like how the original reservoir mount looked like when installed, so I decided to make a custom one:

Much better and a much cleaner look.


Also made a custom radiator support, because the one that I had here, couldn´t place the way I wanted it:

So I grab some parts that I had here and mounted this structure:





These fans might not be the prettiest in the world but they throw some amount of air and can´t even ear them, only the air passing throught.





And attached some P-Clips to hold the cable fans in place.





Than placed the way I just wanted.

What's the sleeving, is it 3mm paracord?

The sleeving is 4mm PET Sleeving, pretty cool effect after being melted.

At the beginning I thought it has to much large and the cable would have a "little play" inside the sleeving but it didn´t, also I used AWG 16 instead of the usual AWG 18.
Also the yellow sleeving is UV Reactive which is a plus.

The radiator is mounted with a little small double side tape.
I done this way to avoid make any drills in the bottom of the case and also its easier to take the radiator off and getting it in for maintence for example.

Hi again

Hovek, this is how paracord looks like with AWG 18 wire.
This also gives a cool effect to custom cables
Made this a few months ago.
Actually was my first try with paracord.









Keep in mind that this paracord fits perfectly in the wire leaving no gap between the sleeving itself and the wire once its properly size cutted and melted in the pins.

Hope you understand my explanation.

Thanks man. Yeah I understand...
My only problem was to find paracord that will match the wire thickness to leave no gap... in color i want of course. I got some 4mm paracord that i love but 18awg standard wires are just to thin.

Another update

Started assembling the components

Decided to make a custom pump support











And a custom front plate for the aquaero





All cables are set in place











And finally the Mayhems concentrate bottle arrived.


So it´s time to put everything together



Mixed it with destilled water and voilá






A nice bright matte yellow

Have already made the loop, and it´s now time to fill it.

I am not sure how I missed this. It looks great!

I have one question; the radiator support. Is the radiator fixed somehow? To the case or to the support you made.

 

He wrote that the rad is held with doublesided tape to the support

 

Lovely fit and finish. I wish you hadn't borrowed the MurderMod style, though. There's got to be something you could have done to make it your own style.

The murdermod style was used mostly because I wanted to have a bit of the feeling of what is to have a case with that style.

But the purpose of this build was to show the possibilities of making custom plexi parts from a laser cutter, being custom requested or not.
