Downforce being a quarter-tonne lump of pig iron keeping the rear wheels firmly in contact with the track. AKA a Honda power unit.
"You cannot win a world championship with customer parts, you have to take a different direction and there has to be unquestionable commitment on the part of the suppliers and technical partners to that philosophy." Ron Dennis for reals
http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2016/...y-stoffel-vandoorne-to-make-mclaren-f1-debut/ Not so fine after all. Stoffel is making his F1 debut this weekend. Still, one cracked rib after a shunt like that is still impressive, although Martin Brundle now gets to call him a wuss.
Though apparently Alonso's chest pain was bad enough to stop him sleeping, so either through lack of sleep or painkillers he may not be 'coherent' [that and an even a relatively minor f1 crash could make those busted ribs a whole lot worse...]...
What about Zinardi who doesn't have all his limbs? An injured Alonso would still outperform half the grid at their peak
http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2016/...st-ahead-of-lewis-hamilton-and-jenson-button/ I appreciate that when real Qualifying roles around normal service will be resumed, but I bet seeing a McHonda in third place must have led to a few spit coffees.
You mean it was all over with three minutes to go instead of five this time. The sooner they go back to the old Quali systems the better, but knowing Bernie and Jean they'll have some hideous mutant hybrid systems ready to go...
Didn't watch quali but didn't Manor do well? Magnusson was disqualified for missing a red light for inspection and was excluded so will start from the pits. http://www.nextgen-auto.com/Renault-hits-out-at-huge-Magnussen-penalty,101833.html
Manor will get quicker id think as the car improves. They have the best engine on the grid as long as they fix the aero bits the car will get faster and faster.
With Wehrlein it was a combo of a decent lap combined with being in the right place at the right time re: eliminations... Stoffelufagus also out-qualified Jenson...
It shows the car has some pace tho. Stoff seems to have got on the pace quick enough and like Wehrlein looks a solid driver with talent rather than being there for other reasons. I noticed Grosjean out qualified his team mate. I guess its too early still to judge inter team battles tho
