Thanks for the submissions guys. Kosch, you'll need to run Firestrike Extreme (not ultra) for your resutls to be comparable! :)

I've looked through the thread just to get a rough idea of GPU performance in 3DMark and it's really interesting. These are GPU only scores.

    Code:
    GTX 780 1355 (boost?) ----------- 11,471
    GTX 780Ti 1304 (boost) 3500 (RAM) 13,944
    GTX 970 1531 (boost?) 3898 (RAM) 13,393
    GTX 980 1304 (boost) 3600 (RAM) 13,449
    GTX 980 1481 (boost) 3800 (RAM) 15,925
    GTX 980Ti stock ------------------- 16,897
I didn't expect the 970 to get so close to the 980, but the clocks are through the roof. Interestingly, the Heaven results don't always align with the 3DMark results, so to get a more complete picture of comparative performance you need to consider both benchmarks. For example, the OC'd 970 gets a shade over 96% of the 780Ti performance in 3DMark Firestrike, but only 86% of it in Heaven, which is a big difference.

@GeorgeStorm, I don't think it'll make a big difference to the GPU score in 3DMark, but it will depend on the clock speed. I'd be surprised if there was a bottleneck with anything above 3GHz on the CPU.

I think it demonstrates in the here and now - certainly for bang per buck and power efficiency the 970 is the choice to be had for 1920x1080/2560x1080 gaming :thumb:

And with reference to the clock speeds of my own 970, it is an example of Zotac's finest cherry picked retail GPU's :) I think the OC3D review says it all.

I'd have to disagree, with the current market pricing - at 1080P you'd not notice the difference between the two.

I agree that the 970 seems to be the best bang for buck option, but bear in mind the result you see here is a very highly overclocked custom card (Zotac AMP Extreme Core) and there's no guarantee that a 970 will be able to reach 1500MHz on the core, let alone get past it.

Another thing worth reiterating is that these are 3DMark scores only; the Heaven scores paint a very different picture. I'd need more Heaven results to be sure, but looky here:

    GTX780Ti @ 1304MHz....1827
    GTX970 @ 1531MHz.......1588
    GTX980 @ 1481MHz.......1902

Both the 780Ti and the 980 walk all over the 970 in Heaven, and the 980 has lost a lot of ground over the 780Ti. These cards are all highly overclocked so I'd say the comparisons are fair. An average of these results and the 3DMark results gives a clear pecking order: 980>780Ti>970>780.
