My niece keeps having virus messages pop up in the bottom right hand corner. To the best of my knowledge she only has win 10 defender installed anti virus wise. Anyone know what might be throwing up these messages as obviously I cant go round there to investigate. I'm not convinced its actual virus and just some sort of phishing thing as she does have the tendency to install random crap like toolbars on her pc. Iz1 by CrapBag posted 8 Apr 2020 at 14:01
She's 13 and not particularly computer savy plus I'm 60 miles away and of course locked down Just added a screenshot.
Turn off website notification ins Chrome... it's almost certainly some shitty website abusing them. Basically we're back to the days of shitty 'you has virus!' pop-ups.
Does it still popup when using incognito mode? IIRC Ctrl-Shift+N will open a new tab in incognito mode.
Try another browser (Edge or IE is fine and will already be there). If the problem disappears then that narrows it down to Chrome. If so try resetting Chrome (while making sure nothing unrecoverable is lost by doing so, like stored logins were the password is unknown for instance): https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en-GB
