Results for hormone level checks arrived. Testosterone is a nice 1.2nmol/L (male range is 9-32), estradiol is hovering at 893pmol/L which is slightly high, reference range is 350-700. Gotta drop dosage by 0.4mg per week and see how it goes

    Quite nice results for DIY

The USB switching on my monitor just kinda... works?

One machine attached with TB, the other DP & USB - a whole smorgasbord of peripherals plugged into the monitor - DAC, camera, mic, KB, mouse, printer. Just fine. No fuss.

Really pleasantly delighted tbh. I mean, it does what it's supposed to, but still, seems like there are a lot of reasons for it not to.

A find of roughly north of a pound of solid red ochre stone. Lots of processing in my future.

So this week has been amazing in the terms of unexpected console gifts. Helped my friend out with his mortgage, as a thank you, he gave me a gift...A Nintendo 64 with games.

Later that week I was at the park with the kiddo and a few friends. Showing them the pics (I took it apart to clean it), a few were like we have some in a cupboard if you want them, not sure what they are.

This week I ended up with a Nintendo 64, a super Nintendo entertainment system, a Gameboy colour, xbox 360, Nintendo wii and a Gamecube. I still need to go pick a few of them up.

Can't wait to share these with the kid :)

Ordered toy story for the snes, and home alone, a hdmi converter and cable (did not know how expensive some of the adapters are to get it to output a nice picture on a modern telly.. JEEZE)

Overall tho, feeling like a giddy kid again

To me this looks like an impressive haul of greyed-out stop signs. Maybe the rights are a bit off?

Assuming there are no issues with the enrolment process, I will be going back to university in September to study a BSc in Applied Data Science. I won't be there full-time - this is a degree apprenticeship programme, so it's done in partnership with my employer. I'll do one day a week on campus and the rest of the learning will be real-world stuff I do at work. But it's only a 3-year programme instead of 6, it's a full BSc degree, and it's fully paid for by the Welsh Government.

I have a... chequered... history with further education. I studied two and a half years of undergraduate degrees, getting three years' worth of student debt, and never made it past the first year. The first time I dropped out beacuse the course just felt like being in college all over again, and I realised I could earn a lot more money if I went full-time at my job. The second time I failed the first year twice in a row. It's only in the last couple of years that I've started to realise that at the time I didn't even know that I needed to ask for help, never mind not even knowing how to ask for help. In the 15 years or so since, I just accepted that I wasn't good enough. I didn't work hard enough. I didn't put in enough effort. I should have spent less time getting drunk and stoned and more time studying. Some of that is probably true, but the bigger issue was not understanding that asking for help doesn't mean that I'd already failed.

Time to get that monkey off my back. Over the last couple of years I have been thinking on and off about studying a degree part-time. A couple of months ago I was taking a good hard look at the OU's Data Science degree and then this opportunity came along in work - the timing couldn't have been better. Took a few weeks to find out whether senior management had approved my application, but I got the nod a few days ago.

Well... There were images there, I swear!

I was on the phone earlier. On the PC, right clicking to open in new tab, requires a Google sign-in.
