FFS. I'll give that a listen later. I hope there's some cunning plan. Not rejoining the single market instead joining a market of singles.
We've had the biggest drop in household spending power in Europe over the last 10 years. Germany up 22% France up 14% Ireland up 8% England down 2% At the same time we have seen Europe's biggest increase in corporate profits (up 30%) over the last 10 years. Yet some idiot seems to thing tax cuts mean they'll have more money in their pockets
If Labour touch Brexit they'll probably get hammered again. The Conservatives are already doing the whole "we're the only party that can keep us Brexited!". What's the up/down? 3 EU countries have increased their spending power while england has had its reduced? (also can I have a link please ) Them suggesting anything else requires them to put in some effort and work
And, like most of the problems brexit was touted as a fix for, would mean accepting responsibility for being the cause of things being ****ed.
So KS is against nationalisation, I mean the energy market has pretty much been stripped of competition right now so what is the difference besides one benefiting the public and one companies? It is a genuine question.
Yet here in France no Major increase in home electricity bills (capped at 4%), not so sure on gas prices as we use bottled gas for cooking and wood from our own farm and woods for heating. Quite glad to be comparatively insulated from the current price rises.
It's almost like privatising something on which the citizenry rely is... a bad idea? Shame Labour seems to have turned into Conservatives Lite, 'cos I'd absolutely vote for a party running on a ticket of renationalising energy, water and sewerage, public transportation (seriously, "public" transportation, clue's in the name, guys), postage, at least one telecoms outfit... Basically, the rule of thumb is "is this service necessary for modern living," and if the answer is "yes" it gets nationalised.
Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date The sad part is... it's not a joke. Like, at all. Centrica, wot owns (the formerly-nationalised (first public utility company in the world, fact-fans, although it was called The Gas Light and Coke Company at the time)) British Gas? Profits up fivefold. Think about that when the next energy cap uplift happens, eh?
The UK technically speaking has a price cap as well, but when you have to trust the very same government that can't even figure out how to get pissed without breaking the laws they wrote themselves to defend said price cap... it doesn't end well.
Yes but the French also capped/limited how much that cap could rise by [the afore-mentioned 4%]. But as you've said, the issue isn't that HMG can't find a solution... it just doesn't want to.
So saying you won't build on greenbelt is labelled as 'desperate'. Is that what we've come to? Green belt is greenbelt for a reason.
It's probably a diversion given builders are being told they can't build due to lack of grid capacity.
