Hello All! I'm pretty new here so I'll introduce myself some! Graduated from college a year ago with a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and during my time in college is when I built my first computer! Very amateur build that left a lot to be desired aesthetically! Kept going back and forth between buying a case and making my own! Enter discovering bit-tech and all of your all's incredible mods through the mod of the month competition! That and the lack of stock of cases I want and I was pretty much won over to making my own case. So let's jump into it! Specs: Asrock B450M Pro4 Ryzen 5 2600 Asrock Phantom Gaming Rx580 Team Group 16GB DDR4 3200 EVGA 500BR Seagate 1TB Old build: Glory shot of some new components and parts needed for the build: Had an idea of building a case within a picture frame. Somewhat of a cross between a tabletop PC and a wall mounted one. Did a quick google search and found one guy who had done it before but had a SFF build and clearly none of my parts are SFF! So to the 3D drawing board I went! Came up with my base: Tried the concept to get my spacings down: Then added some generic components to round out the vision: and WAH-LAH, an alpha-prototype! Learned a couple of things after my alpha prototype. 1) The frame is smaller than I thought and didn't leave a lot of room for cable management. ---the tolerance between the frame and the side of the motherboard wouldn't allow enough room to route keyboard, mouse, HDMI, Etc through the base and having cable run over the side would kind of kill the cleanliness of the build. 2) Cardboard on a desk is not the most stable so I just had visions of knocking my desk and tipping the frame on it's face and destroying my PC. ---So borrowing a plate from my old case to hold everything while I wait for a day when I can fab up the base for my new case. I will say that I got the idea of using a vesa mount as the support from someone else (Not trying to plagiarize here), but had to figure out how I want to incorporate it into my build. Still need to figure out what fasteners I want to use, how I want to make the brackets for the PSU and hard drive (3D printing or metal fab), I/O panel/GPU support/Shroud (again, 3D print or metal fab), and my cable routing. Limitations are that I have to use someone else's 3D printer and shop for everything. But that's what I got so far! Enjoy!
Realizing that my pictures didn't post right so if anyone could give me some tips on how to fix that, that would be great!
Hello and welcome to Bittech...your using basic links...so the pics are visible, if following the links you posted to Imgur...if you want them to appear on your thread, you have to choose an image host using BBcode and choose the "forum link" I'm not sure imgur does it though
I have no clue where that image code came from. It looks like you didn't use the "image" button on the toolbar at the top of the reply box.
