I am at a problem here,im 15 so saving money is oh so hard , my question is shall i invest in a Leadtek Ti4400 A250D , or shall i save money and go for a good geforce 3 Ti500? i have at most £200 or maybe a bit more. The leadtek goes for £212 on tekheads. at the moment i have a Hercules 3d Prophet DDR-DVI.

If you want to save money then by all means go for the GF3 (it's still a damn good card) but if you can possibly stretch to the Ti4400 then do so - I've got both and I reckon if you can afford it then the extra performance and extra features of the GF4 nearly justify the price. If you can get one cheapish like £215 get one cos you definately won't need to upgrade for a while!:D :dude: :D

Wait a few weeks for the 4200 ti some are appearing at the $150 mark which will probably mean we will get them for about £160.

    i say, go 4 the radeon 8500!
cos it' rules, and it's cheap, and it kicks the Gf3's ass, and you get approximately 8700 3d marks for the radeon, when you get some 10400 for a Ti4600 in the same ass kicking machine... basically the radeon is cheaper, but still kicks ass!

what gf4??? you mean the MX420 which sucks and is an mx400 with the Gf4 name, the kind compaq puts in their top end machines so they can say "super fast GF4"
but why would you wanna sink down to their level??? why??? :cries:

djgizmo - did you forget to read the original question? Fatboy is trying to decide between a GF4 Ti4400 and a GF3 Ti500.

IMO there seems to be alot of weird problems with those GF4's so i would say get the GF3 and save up for a while. I don't think you'll see much of a difference between the 2 anyways (not with any game out now), so save yourself some ca$h

fatboy if I were you, go to www.komplett.co.uk, and get yourself the Gainward Geforce4 Ti4200 64mb Ultra/650. Its only £140, and you can clock it to Gf4 ti4600 spec. The only thing your loosing out on is an extra 64mb of ram on the card, but tbh you prob wouldnt notice the difference.

This way you will have some cash left over for a 1337 mod or summat cool, or just buy a crate of fosters and go and have a good night with some mates in front of tha telly :D
