Just picked up a new 1660 ti and the card that I got doesn't have DVI.... and my monitor only has 3 dvi in ports.... So I bought a HDMI to DVI converter. its been a while since I had a Nvidia card. So I have to force the 2560x1600 resolution but when I do this, everything is OMG super blurry, like beyond readable. I'm I screwed? can I fix this so I can still use this monitor? I like my gpu and my monitor but I dont want to have to buy a new monitor or find a gpu with dvi. will a display port to dvi work better? please help!
You'll need an active Displayport to dual link DVI adapter, something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DisplayPort-Dual-Active-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00A493CNY Single link DVI (which is what HDMI to DVI and passive Displayport to DVI adapters use) does not have enough bandwidth for anything over 1920x1200 I think. Edit: This Dell adapter may work and its much cheaper: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Dell-DANAS...VI-Dual-Link/522095178?iid=254254763798&rt=nc
Did you buy a complete converter cable or just a dongle? This might be worth a shot... https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasi...locphy=1006567&hvtargid=pla-332486645975&th=1
What does the DVI part of the converter look like compared to the below... Probably a DVI-D Dual Link is what you need, second from bottom. Check the DVI connections on your monitor first though. I think It's this dongle I use on my GTX 1070 so I can hookup a second HDMI through my TV. Produces a 4K resolution at 30FPS which is my TV limit, with no problems. Might be a DVI-I though, I'd have to double check my setup here!
