    3 to 5 years? Probably in time for my next motherboard, CPU and RAM upgrade then.

    Not sure it'll take that long, Intel is said to bring DDR5 to servers in 2021, also AMD has only promised compatibility until 2020, a new memory controller for DDR5 in 2021 CPUs would explain that.
    But what about this Micron announcement? That seems specific to some DDR5 (DDR5 Registered DIMMs) rather than their first DDR5 products.
