    Hi,

This is more of a general enquiry, for someone familiar with the basics of mp3 encoding. I was wondering if you could split a wav file up into discrete parts, encode these separately and then rejoin all the parts to make a valid mp3 ?

What's the nature of the encoding - does it rely on more than the immediate data, with parts of the data being related to previous values, or can what i described above be done?

A bit of a weird question I know! But it just struck me and before I started looking too deeply into it I wanted to see if anyone had any experience/input on this.

    Cheers!

cheers dude, but doesn't seem to answer my question unless I start trawling through source code.

[sigh] I'll admit defeat and go to a library lol
