I can't stand metal straps simply cos I've got hairy wrists. Also I'd never spend hundreds on a watch and actually wear it, since I'd only ruin or lose it.
I'm with redimp on this- I have a history of scratching and losing watches, so I would never wear anything that cost more than £100. My watch at the moment was about £70 I think, got it as a replacement when I lost my last one Sam
Seiko wristHOLO: Being the huge final fantasy buff that I am; I deam of being able to find one of these rare watches. If any of you have seen the movie Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, you might have reconized it; at the begining of the movie Aki was waring the one on the left (it projected a hologram) They origonally cost about $225US. but There were only 2000 ever made and are now worth thousands of dollars, there is one selling on ebay right now selling at $610.
I was thinking of reviving the "what's your watch" thread to show off my new watch, but now I don't have to. I got one of these a couple months ago. http://www.princetonwatches.com/shop/BL5040-56L.asp And Hex, glad to see you finally got that watch you had been talking about. It looks great.
I never could get used to having a watch on my wrist, plus it'd end up destroyed anyway. So, I picked up this unit when I was in Switzerland a couple years ago. Bit of a hassle pulling it out of your pocket to check the time, but I like it. Most high-tech looking pocket watch I've found. Plus, more than two years of carrying it every day and not a nick in the crystal. Monster macro pic: http://216.120.229.133/dump/hogleg05.jpg
I've never spent a lot on a watch, would just end up loosing it or breaking it. I do have one that cost a about 300 quid, but it was a present.
i want one of these and i have a Nissan GTR watches(like the badge on the front of a GTR Skyline<best car in the world ever[my opinion])
http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/watches/5a1a/ - I have that... and a casio thing... one the ones you can store phone numbers in My next watch however,... is ...... http://www.nixonnow.com/za/NNS?PAGE=WATCH_DETAILS&PRODUCT.ID=291&MENU_ID=1 - that. maybe even a Gshock watch too ... but time shall tell... (oh... i dislike having to read time from analogue watches... don't seem as easy some how...)
Nice watch Hex! I like the combination of the old school look, with the digital thingy's. How does the clock now when the sun sets and all that? Or is it just a mathematical function? Or is it radio controlled? (and many others aswell). Those Final fantasy watches look amazing aswell. Here is mine, its just a Rodania Dakar watch. Built very icely. I've had it for about 2 years now, and its still in perfect state. My watch (the left one) L PS: its only about 160€
swiss made, swiss movement, titanium case, sapphire crystal glass, water resistant 100m, screw in crown, chrono. i work in a jewellers so i have to have a nice watch, and i got 25% off which was nice. if you want a true geek watch try the tissot t-touch, its a quartz movement with touch screen. when you touch in arse of the screen it works as an altimeter, compass barometer etc etc. eg. in compass mode the hands swing opposite to each other and act like a compass! it also has a small digital display for functions like timer alarm and all that. comes in titanium, stainless steel, and loads of b/let or strap combos. http://www.tissot.ch/tactile/lesite.html also if upto me, tissot over TAG heuer, made by the same people, same place, same parts, same movements. you pay for the name with tag unfortuneatly, and thats upto 50% for the pleasure.
FINAL FANTASY WATCH BY SEIKO If anybody is looking for one. here is one on ebay , right now the price is on 202€ its only valid for one more day. it comes from germany, so I think this is only intresting for UK or other european people. linkage
Nice watch Hex! I like the Sunset / Sunrise Indicators. Very useful if you're a vampire... Everyone's seen my watch already...
