The time has come to replace my aging TV, but I've found I know next to nothing about them! I also don't trust the review websites - "the processing power is a concern, it only has dual core instead of quad core!". So I came to the people that I know have deep knowledge about such things: You.

    Requirements:
    • 36 inch maximum, although bigger is better
    • Built-in WiFi
    • Satellite support (FreeSat), perhaps Freetime if available?
    • Decent sound (aka no external sound bar if possible)
    • 1080p Full HD
    • Well designed Smart OS with a range of apps - iPlayer, ITVoD, etc.

I hope my incompetence isn't too obvious! :D Thanks in advance.

First and most obvious question, what's your budget?
Samsung, Sony, LG and Panasonic all make decent sets in all price brackets, i would certainly advise going into Currys, John Lewis, Richer Sounds etc and having a look at sets, see what you like.

Budget isn't really defined: I'd like something that will last, even if I have to pay a small premium for it. I was thinking in the £350 - £400 range?
